This was kind of started in the FA Bonanza thread, but anyway...

The Marlins didn't offer Borowski arbitration, so with no draft pick compensation at stake, would anyone be opposed to him being a setup man for Wickman? If not, what price would be acceptable for you?

I predicted that he would sign here, so my feelings on the situation should already be known. I would love to have him as an insurance policy, but I'm afraid that with the season he is coming off of he'd ask for a lot more than we'd be willing to give.

After Baez's miserable failure in LA and Atlanta, he picked up a big contract. Its almost scary to speculate what Borowski is asking for.

Heh ... after looking into his stats, it is interesting to note that he's been a Brave twice already. Third time's a charm?

He looked good as the Marlins closer last year. But, he might want to close instead of set up. If the chance popped up, though, I wouldn't mind.

I just looked him up on ESPN.com. A little old for my tastes being in his mid-30's but fairly good numbers. I am puzzled though, the site says he only made $327,000 last year. How is that possible given his numbers and veteran status? Anyway, if we could get him (I think it more likely that someone with more money will overwhelm him, maybe the Angels give him 20 million a year?) I would be willing to go 12 million over 3 years. This is within our range, a fair raise for a veteran of his status and not so large as to cripple us if he bombs or gets hurt, and is low enough for easy trading should we choose.

he only made that because he's aging, and hasn't had any success really since 03.

Still, I would have expected at least one million.

Last year he was on one of those one year "prove yourself" deals. I wouldn't want to give him anymore than 2 years, but if we can't trade for a setup man he would be a good fit, in my opinion.

Trade Chris Reitsma for a moon pie and sign Borowski
