NEW YORK -- A construction worker's bid to curse the New York Yankees by planting a Boston Red Sox jersey in their new stadium was foiled when the home team removed the offending shirt from its burial spot.
After locating the shirt in a service corridor behind what will be a restaurant in the new Yankee Stadium, construction workers jackhammered through the concrete Sunday and pulled it out.
The team said it learned that a Red Sox-rooting construction worker had buried a shirt in the new Bronx stadium, which will open next year across the street from the current ballpark, from a report in the New York Post on Friday.

Why would this guy tell anybody he did it?
Take some pictures of it, wait until the stadium is completed then release those pictures to the media
This guy would have been a Red Sox legend

I guess if he didn't say it when it could have been brought up, it would have become like the Jimmy Hoffa thing in Giants stadium.

Don't you think the Yanks overreacted just a bit? Who the hell jackhammers up an entire slab of concrete to find a damn tshirt? And then to threaten the guy with "appropriate action"?
That's almost as lame as people using sigs without permission...

hahaha SO TRUE! I hate reading those stories sometimes because when I check the article and see the picture of the teacher, I'm like WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THAT KID? If my teacher was hott and wanted to have sex with me all the time, I wouldn't tell a soul.
Just like if I burried a Sox jersey under the new Yankee stadium, I would have done it somewhere that would have been expensive to rip up and not tell them until about 2 days after opening day....I think I might have just been like "I Burried a Sox Jersey SOMEWHERE in the new stadium" and make them worry about it

Ya, well on a side note I hate giving the major markets more fuel so we have to listen to everyone in baseball talking about it for the next month. I hate watching ESPN, its all I have been hearing all weekend.

This is now the most absurd sports-related story I have heard in a good long while.
