Braves release tentative 2007 schedule (http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060911&content_id=1657227&vkey=news_atl&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl)
A nine-game homestand that will begin with a visit from the Mets highlights the early portion of the tentative 2007 schedule that has been released by the Braves.
The Braves will begin the season in Philadelphia with a three-game series that begins on April 2. They'll return to Atlanta for their Fri. April 6 home opener against the Mets. That three-game series will be followed with visits from the Nationals and Marlins.
The Cubs, who always draw a good crowd, will make two visits to Turner Field next year. They're scheduled for a two-game series in Atlanta on April 18-19 and a four-game series June 7-10.
Next year's Interleague schedule will include visits from the Red Sox (June 18-20) and the Tigers (June 22-24). The Braves will travel to play the Twins (June 12-14) and the Indians (June 15-17). It will be their first trip to Jacobs Field since the 1995 World Series.
With the Red Sox designated as their natural rival, the Braves will also travel to Fenway Park for a three-game series from May 18-20.

So what do you say we all try to get to Atlanta on April 6th for the home opener against the Mets?

I like the matchups, but I don't know if I like it knowing what our record could be in interleague. At least we get the Indians to kind of make up for it.

People dont realize, the Indians will be very good next year. I think that there will be 4 teams in the AL Central with winning records. And then the Royals being 1-161. Lol.

The Indians will continue to give up too many runs to be successful. Also, their bullpen problems will be much like ours have been this year.

Yeah way to go Chief... but I'm liking the fact we don't play all the games in a 2 week span this year. Usually if I go to Atlanta I'll be going with a friend, who is a Cardinal fan, so it's better that they're spread out so we have a chance to go to Atlanta and St. Louis to catch a few games.

Does anyone else get sick of seeing the Phillies, Marlins, Nationals and Mets 18 times a year? How about reducing the number of games in division to 12, two 3 game series at home/away and then expand the number of games played against the West/Central or maybe even alter or expand interleague so that we don't play the same handful of teams every year.
Why in the name of god do we have to see the stupid Red Sox every single season? I don't care that the Braves used to be in Boston back when my great-grandfather was still in Europe, how about playing the Rangers, or the Angels, the White Sox or the Mariners? I love interleague play, but hate the way it is configured. The way I see it, every team should have at least one series against every other team in the opposing league every three seasons. While I am no expert on MLB scheduling, I am sure that such an alteration would be fairly simple to make and probably quite popular, most of these "natural rivals" are just jokes anyway. Who was Colorado's rival again? Toronto? Yeah, I see it.

Yeah... those "Natural Rivals" are a joke. Some make sence, but mostly they are mindless. Just like Bud Selig and his WS home field advantage/Allstar Game stunt and many of his other schemes.
I'm a fan of more day games also. Yeah, more people can attend at night ... but the game was intended to be played in the light of day. IF that can't happen, hows about an afternoon WS game for once?
Bah' .. I'll end my short rant.

I'd like to see the bravos play other AL teams. All people say that the A's and Braves work the same way, so how about a A's/Braves game ?
And for day games, yesssssss, as an european fan, I wish all games were played at 1-3pm:clap:

Nickzilla, you may be the greatest poster of all time. The concept of "natural rivals" is totally wack (exemption: NYM vs. NYY, CWS vs. CHC. Obviously).
Jsh1284

Hotcorner, you just named two of the natural rivals that DO work ...
NYY - NYM, CWS - CHC, LAA - LAD, OAK - SF, ATL - BOS, MIA - TB, WAS - BAL, ... those all work. Believe it or not, a lot of people want to drive across town and see their fave team play someone new for a change. The ones I don't agree with are the idiotic ones ... Seattle vs San Diego ... Colorado vs Toronto ... and god only knows who the heck Minnesota plays. Maybe Tokyo? The fact is ... those good and true 'rivalries' bring an extra amount of excitement to the game. Heck, even I remember the Tampa Bay fans being fired up (all 20 of them) when we were in town. Thats good for baseball. The problem is when you get St Louis playing Kansas City eight times a year. Thats a natural massacre and nobody really cares about it. Call that series a mulligan .. or maybe you can even look at them kind of like bonus questions on a game show.
Thats my gripe.
All I'm saying is Baseball needs to come up with a system that works. I have a whoooole theory made out, but this isn't the place for it ... but all I'm saying is the FEW that don't make sence kind of ruin the whole gig.

An A's/Braves series would probably be the highlight of my week, assuming TBS would actually show a game once in a while [I hate TBS]. I see where people compare them, pitching and defense oriented as they supposedly are, though the Braves definately have been offensively driven for a couple seasons now.

I was looking over the schedule, and I'm convinced that we play the toughest interleague schedule possible.
