Chipper itching to return (http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060918&content_id=1669250&vkey=news_atl&fext=.jsp&c_id=atl)
"We want him to come back," Cox said. "It just doesn't have to be tomorrow. ... He's not 100 percent. Whenever he's going to play, he's not going to be at 100 percent."
"I want to play," Jones said. "I want to finish off the season strong and hopefully get us back to [a] .500 [record]. It's been a long time since the Atlanta Braves or Cox have been sub-.500. If there's not a playoff spot to be had, that's something to play for."
"This is more about pride than anything else," Jones said. "I want to get back in there and end the season positively so that I can have something to look forward to heading into the offseason."
And a note about his conditioning program ...
"Back when I ate cheeseburgers four or five times a week and did my own program, I never got hurt," he said. "When I started eating healthy and getting trainers, I started getting hurt. Maybe it's time to get back to the old-school way of working out. I certainly don't feel [that] playing 110 games is worth all the work that I put in this offseason."
