Figured I'd start the action in this forum with a simple survey....who's your guys' favorite team, and why? Favorite players?

I'm a die-hard Suns fan, and have been for quite some time (I cried when we lost in the Finals in 1993). Favorite player right now is Shawn Marion and of all time, probably Kevin Johnson or Dan Majerle. Why are they my favorite team? Probably because my older bro brainwashed me into liking them (much like he did the Braves), so I've just liked them ever since I can remember basketball.

I'm not that much of an NBA fan, so I really don't have a team. I just kind of choose one to run with at the beginning of the year and see how it goes.

There are various teams that I like, but couldn't really call myself a fan. I like the Heat because I've always liked Dwayne Wade, back to the Marquette days. I like the Suns because of their style of play and Joe Johnson, so far, is the most successful Razorback in the NBA (this era). Keeping with the Joe Johnson theme, I keep up with what the Hawks are doing, but don't really like them, nor am I fan.

This year I'm going to closely follow the Jazz. I like their blend of young players, and having Ronnie Brewer makes me a casual fan by default.

word. Actually, I don't particularly like J-Kidd that much, but I live in CT and hate boston sports, which leaves the Knicks and the Nets and boy, that was easy...

I wish I had a favorite NBA team, it would really make trying to watch a lot more bearable. Instead, I'm just stuck not rooting for anyone and trying to make myself care more than I do. The fact that the Hawks are one of the worst organizations in pro sports doesn't help the matter any...

To everyone who has stated they don't care much for the NBA, what are your reasons?

Since I said it first, I'll start it off ... I grew up loving basketball. I play it every chance I get, and hopefully, if I get the right job ... I'll be coaching it next school year. I have great passion for the game of basketball, and see the NBA as a disgrace to the game itself. The bending of the rules for "entertainment factor" has turned me away from the game. It's funny that college basketball is still "pure" and more people like it than the NBA, so much for "entertainment."

When we go play in international competition, it just makes my feelings that much stronger. The reason we can't win in international play isn't because we have too many stars on the team or anything like that, it's because these guys have forgotten how to play the right way and can't deal with the "rule changes" (they aren't rule changes, they're the right rules just not bended).

Detroit Pistons. Been a fan since 1987. I remember seeing Dennis Rodmans first game and totally being in awe of how hard he tried. Favorite all time guys:
Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer, Rodman, Grant Hill, Ben Wallace, Chauncy Billups, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince. I am now really pumped about Chris Webber coming to us. I have also been a fan of the Michigan Basketball program for over 15 years and always wished those guys would play in Detroit.

Atlanta Hawks, maybe because my family is from GA. Miami Heat. I don't watch the NBA that much anymore. It's pretty much all baseball.

The NBA is more about following players for me. I don't have too much of a committment with one team. I like the Kings for some reason, but I wouldn't say I'm a "fan."

I support the:

Hawks - Joe Johnson
Jazz - Ronnie Brewer
Kings - Corliss WilliamsonAnd I like watching the Suns play because of their tempo. It reminds me of my high school team, always running the fast break to shoot the three.

Yeah the Suns are the most exciting NBA team I have watched since the showtime Lakers of the 1980's.

The Hawks are my team, but for years now, my favorite team other than my hometown team has got to be the Mavs.
