I thought this was pretty interesting, it gives the top 10 contract deals over the past 30 years. You see plenty of these lists on poor deals, but it's cool to see when a GM did a good job once in awhile with free agency.

Very nice find V! All were good deals, I especially liked the Carlos Pena one.

TP definitely deserved to be up there, and he was.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to possibly see him in the Braves Hall of Fame one day.

If David Justice is in there. There is no reason that TP shouldn't be.

I honestly feel that Justice can be considered possibly as one of the cogs to the early 90s total success, while TP was great in 91 and good the rest of the years, and was certainly a cog. I think they both deserve to be there.

And Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz all should go in the same year. It's only fair. Probably should retire all 3 of those jerseys, along with Bobby's, Chipper's, etc.

Indeed. Justice got in on a single home run, albeit one of the biggest in Atlanta Braves' history.

Not true at all. He was ROY in 1990, he was, really, the best non-pitcher on the Braves during his total time with the Braves.

Winning Rookie of the Year really doesn't mean a thing. I mean, Pat Listach and Bob Hamelin won it as well. Just looking at Justice's overall body of work with the Braves, I don't think he would have gotten in. That home run in the World Series is what got him in.

I'm suprised our signing of Maddux isn't on the list. He got the same money we were gonna give Bonds, and won three Cy's in a row after that. C'mon SI!

And he turned down more money from the Yankees to pitch for us because he didn't want to change leagues. It should have been on the list.

Also, in response to Justice, I'm not saying the ROY was the reason why he was the best, however, he was, overall, probably our best offensive player consistently every one of those years.

With the exception of TP's MVP year, of course, but even still, he had a great year as well.

Highest OPS by year:

1990: Justice
1991: Pendleton (Justice 2nd)
1992: Pendleton (Justice 3rd)
1993: Justice
1994: McGriff (Justice 2nd)
1995: McGriff (Justice 2nd)

Pendleton had the highest OPSes on those teams?! Holy cow, I never realized that.

Twas very close, but yes.

Justice actually had the same .880 OPS in 1991, but in fewer at-bats. In 1992 he has a .805 to TP's .818 (Blauser was at .812).
