I'm not sure why the Tigers would want another outfielder, and one that isn't really that good.

Granderson, Maybin, Ordonez, Sheffield, Thames ... and now Jones?

I think the point is to platoon Jones with Thames...they might not think Maybin is ready to stick yet...

Maybin is not where they thought he would be in terms of progress. Thus, they got Jones

The trade seems decent for the Tigers....the Cubs other than dumping some salary and getting rid of Jones which they seem to have wanted to do for sometime, they dont seem like they are really going to benefit in my eyes...

I think the Tigers may be a bit worried about Maybin or have a deal looming. The likelihood is that he will play at a really high level for many years to come. This just seems like the move of a worried team or a team about to trade an outfielder, even though they gave up little. One would think a half-ready Maybin would be better than Jones.

No way is Granderson moving! Maybe for Jake Peavy only? (a joke) but its not going to happen!
