----------------------

Game 1/162 Phillies @ Braves

Braves lose 11 - 10, all i can really remember from this game is the fact that Soriano came in with a 10 - 7 lead and decided to give up 4 runs.

Game 2/162 Phillies @ Braves

Braves lose 3 - 2.

Hudson goes 9 innings...and ultimately gives up a lead-off triple in the top of the 9th, battles back to get 2 outs and then gives up the lead.

Chief Knockahoma

Game 3/162 Phillies @ Braves

Braves lose 9 - 8.

Zito's curve is absolutely nasty and aside from a few mistakes the Braves are in line for their first win of the season.

Time for Rafael Soriano to come in and close an 8 - 6 game. Soriano gives up 2 runs and we head to the bottom of the 9th with the score 8 - 8. Teixeira GIDP to end the scoring threat in B9.

Buddy Carlyle comes in and gives up a lead-off triple which ultimately turns into the winning run for the Phils. The Braves go quietly in B10.

---

This is spur of the moment so i'll try to make it prettier as we continue.

Soriano's stats so far this season...

W - 0
L - 1
S - 0/2
IP - 2.0
K - 2
BB - 0
ERA - 22.50

Game 4/162 Braves @ Mets

Well, we picked up our first win of the year by destroying the Mets 7 - 2.

Smoltz went 6 scoreless.

Teixeira went deep twice to bring his season total to 4.

Mike Gonzalez came in and gave up the 2 runs, Rafael Soriano gave me an easy 1, 2, 3 B9.

Braves move to 1 - 3 on the year.

Game 5/162 Braves @ Mets

The Braves fell to the Mets 10 - 8 as Rafael Soriano gave up a 3-run Walk-off HR to David Wright.

Soriano moves to 0 - 2 on the year.

Mark Teixeira hit his 5th homerun of the year and drove in 2 to bring his RBI total to 8 on the year.

The Braves move to 1 - 4 and finish the series against the Mets with a pitching match-up of Fausto Carmona (0-0) vs Pedro Martinez (0 - 0).

Game 6/162 Braves @ Mets

The start to the Atlanta Braves season has been very much less than expected.

The Braves now move to 1 - 5 on the season following another loss to the New York Mets. The culprit has been the same in 4 of the 5 Braves losses: the bullpen.

In the most recent loss Ron Mahay was the victim as he was rocked for 3 runs.

The Braves now begin a 3 game series against the Washington Nationals.

---

holy shit, i have to get this back on track...the bullpen has been atrocious.

Chief Knockahoma
08-22-2007, 01:30 AM
Game 7/162 Braves @ Nationals

In a positive start to the Nationals series, the Atlanta Braves won 9 - 7 fueled by Mark Teixeira's 4 for 5 performance that included a homerun and 5 runs batted in.

Perhaps even more positive than Teixeira's performance was Rafael Soriano's 1-2-3 B9 to record his first save of the year.

Teixeira's night brings his stats so far this season to:

.455 BA
.455 OBP
1.030 SLG
6 HR
16 RBI

The Braves continue their series with the Nationals by sending Barry Zito to the mound.

Game 8/162 Braves @ Nationals

Game 2 of the series against the Washington Nationals showed that the Braves may be waking up from their early season slumber.

Edgar Renteria and Rick Ankiel lead the Braves to a 14 - 5 stomping of the Washington Nationals.

Barry Zito gets his first win of the season and the Braves move to 3 - 5 on the year and send John Smoltz to the mound to attempt to complete the sweep of the Nationals.

Game 9/162 Braves @ Nationals

The Braves 3 game sweep of the Washington Nationals was completed with an exclamation point in the form of a 15 - 1 win.

The Braves offense pounded out 6 homeruns: Jose Reyes with 2, Mark Teixeira with 1, Yadier Molina with 1, Matt Diaz with 1, and Rick Ankiel with 1.

John Smoltz, in what appears to be his final tour of duty, moved to 2 - 0 on the season and lowered his ERA to 0.69.

The Braves are now 4 - 5, riding the momentum of a three game winning streak.

A rough start for Tim Hudson was all but forgotten in T4 when the Braves put 8 runs on the board.

Mark Teixeira hit two homeruns to move his total up to twelve on the season.

The Braves are now 7 - 5 on the season and 1.0 GB of the NL East leading Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves now return to Atlanta for a two game series against the Washington Nationals.

The Nationals arrived in Atlanta and wasted no time in getting a small piece of revenge on the Braves for the 3 game sweep that occurred just days ago.

Barry Zito suffered his first loss of the year.

The Braves made sure that the Nationals would leave Atlanta with only one victory thanks in part to a 4 run B8.

The Braves went on to win 8 - 5. Peter Moylan picked up his first win of the year going 1.2 innings in relief of John Smoltz.

Rafael Soriano continued his improved pitching and picked up his 4th save of the year.

Mark Teixeira continued his hot hitting by belting his 13th homerun of the year.

The Braves pounded out 24 hits en route to defeating the Chicago Cubs 12 - 4. Jered Weaver went six strong innings, allowing 3 runs before exiting the game. Weaver is now 2 - 0.

The big offensive performance once again belonged to Mark Teixeira who hit 2 homeruns and drove in 5 runs. This now brings Teixeira's totals for the year up to 15 homeruns and 38 runs batted in.

Game 16/162 Braves @ Cubs

Fausto Carmona and Carlos Zambrano were locked in a pitchers duel for most of the day at Wrigley Field. When both pitchers made their exits from the game the score was 1 - 1 and both clubs were struggling offensively.

That changed in the top of the 9th as the Braves put a 5 spot on the board, backed by Willy Aybar's PH Grand Slam. The Braves went on to win 6 - 1.

Peter Moylan gets the win and moves to 2 - 0 on the year.

Game 17/162 Mets @ Braves

The New York Mets came to Turner Field with more destruction on their mind. The Mets ransacked the Braves earlier in the year at Shea Stadium but the Braves were hoping to put that behind them and get this series off on the right foot.

And they did just that.

Even though Tim Hudson was chased after giving up 6 runs in 5 innings, the Braves went on to rough up both John Maine and Duaner Sanchez.

Buddy Carlyle replaced Hudson and pitched 3 innings of one-hit baseball en route to the victory. Carlyle is now 1 - 1 on the year.

Game 19/162 Mets @ Braves

The Braves offense stepped up in a big way in last night's game against the New York Mets.

The Atlanta Braves defeated the New York Mets 20 - 3.

John Smoltz moved to 3 - 0 on the season by pitching 7 innings of 7 hit, 2 run baseball. Octavio Dotel pitched the final 2 innings in an attempt to work through the issues that have plagued him as of late.

The Mets pitching staff, on the other hand, did not fair as well. Starter Dave Williams went 4 innings and surrendered 6 earned runs. Tom Glavine then came in and pitched 2/3 of an inning while giving up 8 earned runs. Edward Mujica pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up 4 runs. Kevin Mulvey pitched 1 inning and gave up 2 runs.

The biggest offensive performer for the Braves was Jose Reyes. Reyes went 6 for 6 on the night with a single, double, triple, and 3 homeruns (one of which was a grand slam). Following the game Reyes had this to say: "Sometimes you just see the ball really well and everything goes your way, in your face MyPaHurled."

The Braves currently stand 1 game back of the NL East leading Florida Marlins...who the Braves now welcome to town with a three game series.

Game 20/162 Marlins @ Braves

Only one word can truly describe last night's Marlins/Braves game: heartbreaking.

The Marlins jumped all over Braves starter Jered Weaver and reliever Buddy Carlyle and were soon out to an 11 - 2 lead.

Then the bottom of the 7th occurred. The Braves managed to put up 9 runs in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game at 11.

Unfortunately Peter Moylan surrendered 2 runs in the top of the 9th and the Braves offense could only muster 1 run in the bottom of the ninth, a leadoff homerun from Yadier Molina.

It took extra frames to do so, but the Atlanta Braves got revenge on the Florida Marlins for that heartbreaking 13 - 12 loss.

The Braves defeated the Marlins 3 - 2 in 10 innings.

Fausto Carmona went 6 strong innings of no-run baseball but Peter Moylan's struggles continued as he gave up 2 runs to tie the game at 2.

Buddy Carlyle ultimately picked up the win.

The Braves are now 13 - 8 on the year and still 1 game behind the NL East leading Florida Marlins.

Game 26/162 Braves @ Phillies

Following a horribly embarrassing end to the Rockies series the Braves traveled to Philadelphia to play the NL East Rival Phillies.

The top 4 in the Braves lineup provided all of the runs and Fausto Carmona allowed only 3 runs over 6 innings to pick up the win.

This game marked the debut of Jacoby Ellsbury for the Braves and he responded quite well: 2/5 with an RBI and a run scored.

On most nights 7 innings and 2 runs surrendered would be enough to get Tim Hudson a W. Unfortunately this statement is not true when Cole Hamels is on the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Hamels matched Hudson's 7 innings but only surrendered 1 run on the way to his 3rd victory of the season. The loss moves Tim Hudson to 3 - 2 on the year.

w00t Good move!

thank you.

Weaver's lack of success, while having nasty stats, was a cause for concern.

Having Reyes and Lillibridge on the Major League club and a Major League-Ready Ellsbury in the minors made it an easy decision to ship Edgar off to Chicago in return for pitching. And Mahay was tossed in due to his struggles. Hopefully Royce Ring will be decent.

Originally I was going to call Jo-Jo up but I felt that with the weak start the team had we didn't need to remove a question mark and plug in a question mark.

Game 34/162 Braves @ Padres

John Smoltz didn't have his "A-Game" when facing the San Diego Padres last night, but Tim Stauffer didn't fair much better. Smoltz lasted 5 innings and gave up 3 runs. Stauffer gave up 7 runs over 3 and 2/3 innings.

Mark Teixeira hit his 20th homerun of the year and Rick Ankiel added his 12th of the season.

Jon Garland heads to the mound tonight to battle Clay Hensley as the Braves attempt to sweep the Padres in San Diego.

Game 35/162 Braves @ Padres

The Atlanta Braves offense was on life support when Clay Hensley left the game last night after 7 innings of 1 run baseball.

Scott Linebrink was all the Braves bats needed to wake up. Going into the 8th inning the Padres were leading the Braves 2 to 1 and Linebrink was entering the game to set-up a save situation. Linebrink lasted 2/3 of an inning and surrendered 5 runs to allow the Braves to take the lead. Cla Meredith then entered the game and gave up another 3 runs. In the end the Braves managed to score 8 runs en route to a 9 to 3 victory.

The Braves now come home to host the surging Pittsburgh Pirates. Fausto Carmona will face off against Zach Duke.

Game 36/162 Pirates @ Braves

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been one of the hottest teams in the National League as of late and the Atlanta Braves found that out first hand last night as the Pirates came to Atlanta and took game one of the three game series 13 - 4.

The score is not an accurate telling of this game transpired. Fausto Carmona went 6 innings giving up 3 runs while Pirates starter Zach Duke lasted 6 innings while giving up 2 runs. The wheels fell off for the Braves when the bullpen entered the game. Buddy Carlyle gave up 2 runs in 2 innings pitched while Peter Moylan was unable to record an out and gave up 8 runs.

The Braves send Tim Hudson to the mound to take on Paul Maholm in the second game of this three game series last tonight.

Tom Gorzelanny three 109 pitches and walked 11 Braves in 4 and 1/3 innings last night but that failed to be enough for the Braves to pick up a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Barry Zito allowed 9 runs over 7 innings and the Braves lost 13 - 8.

The Braves will attempt to "right the ship" later today as the Washington Nationals come to town.

i managed about 8 games or so because i didn't feel like playing the teams and there was a series at Shea against the Mets that i really wanted to play, especially after the struggles against them earlier this season.

going into this series...the Braves are 28 - 17 and the Mets are 21 - 24.

---

Game 46/162 Braves @ Mets

In the Braves first trip to Shea this season Rafael Soriano had problems in the later innings and the Mets ended up taking 2 out of 3 games. When the Mets traveled to Atlanta for a three game series the Braves returned the favor and took 2 out of 3 and Rafael Soriano's issues with the Mets were non-existant.

Unfortunately for the Braves last night Rafael Soriano's problems with Shea Stadium and the New York Mets resurfaced.

The Braves went into the 9th inning with the momentum of leading game one of the three game series and having held the Mets offense in check. Rafael Soriano got two quick outs and then allowed 4 runs to cross the plate, 3 of which scored on a walk-off Vlad Guerrero homerun.
