St. Louis — Jeff Weaver's lousy summer included the indignation of being dumped by a team that preferred his younger brother. Autumn is going much better for Weaver with his new team, the St. Louis Cardinals. His resurgence crested with the most important start of his career Tuesday night at Busch Stadium, where Weaver pitched six strong innings in a 4-2 Game 5 win over the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series. Albert Pujols broke out of his mini-slump with a homer off Tom Glavine to spark the Cardinals, who took a 3-2 edge in the best-of-seven series that shifts back to New York for Game 6 Wednesday night and, if necessary, Game 7 on Thursday.
