iCash, iShop, iBank... [vBookie related]

I am going to overhaul the betting system, or at least attempt to, over the all-star break. When I figure out all the specifics, I will post an update as to how it will be done and the changes that will come along with it.

UPDATE:
I have installed a new cash system called iCash. It will take the place of vCash.

iCash gives points based on threads started and posts made. It will also serve the same purpose as our old vCash for vBookie betting events.

The iBank will allow you to deposit your iCash and pay you an interest rate per week you have the cash deposited.

The iShop will allow you to buy certain things with your iCash. You can donate the items to other people or keep them for yourself. The items will appear in your postbit, I believe. We'll see how this goes in the future. There are currently no items in the shop, though I will get that fixed up soon.

The standard payment is $10 for each thread created and $5 for each reply. Some forums do not give payment, such as the vBookie Forums, GFX Forums, and Trash Bin. The columns are doubled in value, so a thread started by Chief in his forum for the update will give him $20 and each reply is worth $10. Same holds for the Sunday Night Blog.

i think this point needs to be pointed out alongside this rule...


Spam: Any post that is off-topic or contributes nothing useful or interesting to a thread is considered to be spam. Most spam posts will be moved or deleted. Spam includes posts that:
only contain smilies.
only contain a short message, such as "LOL" or "hello."
are posted more than once, or immediate double posting. There is an edit button. Learn to use it.

so uh....don't start posting stupid posts. i know we've pretty much eliminated that problem by ridding ourselves of some posters...but it's just a friendly reminder.

I was going to point that out but was hoping it wouldn't become an issue. Everyone knows that we're lenient on what is and what isn't spam, but if you feel like you need to bump up your BN Bux total, use the bank and get an 8.9% return in a day instead of making me go through and delete posts and take your BN Bux away.

This is a great idea, you get rewarded for staying an active member on the message board. I cant wait to see what kind of stuff we get in the shop. I don't have any ideas for it, however.

To display them? I will have to wait to see how they're shown and then I will likely do some custom coding of some sort if I don't like it. Right now we have nothing to buy/give so it's hard to know what changes need to be done.

It may take a little while, but we'll get it all taken care of somehow.

That's the same thing I thought when I saw this. Gamethreads basically turn into chat oftentimes anyway.

It can only be done as a forum, not per particular thread. I thought the same thing but I don't know. I thought about cutting the posts in the Archived Gamethreads in half, but it would be useless because people are given credit for where they post. The only other option would be adding a forum for gamethreads, but I wouldn't want to take that away from the main board.

There are SOME things up in the shop right now and I've got some more coding to do, but I'm taking a break right now so it'll have to wait before I add more and finish up.

Hey! There's basketball in there. I put the Razorbacks one in so I could see how it would look over there in the postbit. I'll be adding more tomorrow and look to finish up the coding. I'm trying to make it kind of like the awards system in that the awards do not show if you don't have anything to show.

It's a work in progress, but it's better than having vCash that can be used for nothing.

One of my thought processes go with making friendly bets. Kind of like in a gamethread, saying "I'll bet you so many BN Bux that..." then whoever loses donates so much BN Bux to that person.

I'll get all the logos added in soon. I have to add them one by one so it's kind of a time consuming chore. After the logos, I'll look to other things.

I have added the MLB and some college logos. I tried to get all the college logos relevant to any of us, but if you see one that isn't in there that needs to be in there, let me know and I'll add it.

I may have some typos in there as it was a lot of typing. :nod:

I'll keep looking for new things. The thing is that TSZ uses vbPlaza and that has been taken down right now because of a security flaw. I can't install that so some of these features are likely things that are through vbPlaza and not available with what we have.

Edit: I have added the second on so you can have a choice. Both are still free until inventory runs out, but since there are two, I'm cutting the inventory in half. If you want the red one, sell the white one back so the inventory remains the same.

I don't want people holding both of them, and over time I'll use those stats to show which one to keep.

I've placed something in to hopefully combat this problem a little.

You should get 0.10 BN Bux for each character you type. So posts like "wtg" won't have as much as threads with a thought out reply.

I've also turned on payment for threads and posts in the vBookie threads since there's been some good amount of discussion in those threads. It's 5 BN Bux for threads and replies so that people won't be penalized for either not knowing how to post a vBookie event or any other issues that may arise with it.

I hope that's clear. We'll see how it goes.

Basically because in the old system we had vCash that just sat there and was useless. Now people can "buy things" with their "money."

I don't think the bux being awarded for posts and such will diminish the quality of the board or anything like that. You can either earn money by being active on the boards, winning bets in the vBookie forums, or both.

I've made some changes to the prices. Instead of $0.10 per character, it's now $0.025 per character. I did this because it will still keep fresh money coming in to be bet and donated, etc. but it won't raise people's accounts REALLY high.

I changed the bank's interest rate to 4.95% instead of 8.9%. I had it at 8.9% for people to take advantage of it for a little while to improve their BN Bux. The introductory phase is all but over, I think.

I'm not sure how this will effect anyone with money being held in the bank, but the 4.95 is higher than the default of 2, so be grateful. :nod:

There's also a new version up, so some templates need to be re-done and such. I think one of them is causing a problem in saving the drag and drop to order your inventory. I'll get this done fairly quickly. Have to go out for lunch and then I'll be back and get working on it.

I'm trying to keep up with all the suggestions. When things get back to normal here, I'll try to get all of these things taken care of.

Some of the plans:

adding the arcade back with some different [some of the same] games and setting it up like a real arcade to where you have to pay so many BN Bux per time you play. I'll see how deep I can make that.
I'm going to add some other logos and things to the shop.
I may add some things where you can purchase different message board perks with your BN Bux.I don't know. We'll see what we can do with it but it will be a little while before any mass changes are done.

well, I have seen here works perfect the ICash and IShop hacks (vBulletin 3.6.8) ... but really this hacks was designed for vb 3.5.8 , i'm very confused because I have a big problem with this... I have the same version (vb 3.6.8) but the hacks does not work :(:confused:

I just wanted to make a request for future updates to the Ishop system. I was looking at Ishop in search of a UAB Blazers logo. We don't have any .. so I just thought I'd throw that out there incase you happen to run across one when you get around to that update you were talking about a couple o weeks ago. Well, since my PM to McCarroll over 2 months ago never got answered, I'll add it here for you Stoney. I was hoping to get a Young Harris College logo, that's where I went. It's also the alma mater of Billy Buckner and Nick Markakis. I can get you a link to their site with the logo, or Garrett said he can make one up and send it to you.

I'm changing the amount of items that show on your inventory to 16. I changed it from 5 per row to 4 because the newer logos, some of them are larger than 25 pixels wide, making the row wrap if you had one of those and put one down on a row by itself.

With the current setup, it will be 4x4. I think anything bigger than that will take up too much space for those that have 17+ logos in their inventory.

I've downloaded all the zip files, I'll get them all loaded into the iShop tomorrow.

I may be the only one who finds this funny, but the Col. Reb logo for Ole Miss is hilarious to me that is in ishop! Ole Miss has no mascot and the university has no official ties to the Col. Reb figure any longer. Their logo now is simply:
