Eric Campbell continues to make me look bad for including him on my ten most dissapointing list; our young infielder was recently named to BA's hot list.

The Braves' sixth-ranked prospect had a rough start to his first season at High-A--the 21-year-old was hitting a mere .189 on June 1--but has since raised his average to .247 after stringing together six multi-hit games. Since June 15, Campbell has gone 17-for-34 with two homers and nine RBIs.

The short season leagues have started up, don't take these stats for fact just yet; they've only played a handful of games.

Danville-
Cody Johnson has come out of the gate on fire, our powerful first round pick from last year has tremendous raw power.
.381 avg, 3 2B, 1 HR, .458 OBP, .667 SLG, 1.125 OPS

The speedster Cole Miles is also swining a good bat right now.
.471 avg, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, .550 OBP, .824 SLG, 1.374 OPS, 1 SB

Neftali Feliz pitched well in his first start going six innings, giving up one run and striking out seven.

JoJo Reyes has pitched very well since his promotion to Richmond
2-0, 12 inn, .75 ERA, 11 SO.

Van Pope is still struggling hitting around .200 but has hit a couple home runs in the few games.

Draft Update
Jon Gilmore 3B Round 1
Gilmore is with the GCL Braves in nine at bats he has two hits and two strikeouts.

Freddie Freeman 1B Round 2
Freeman is also with the GCL Braves, he's had 22 at bats.
.273, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 BB, 2 SO

Michael Fisher SS Round 6
Fisher is 5/12 with Danville with a home run, three walks and a strikeout.

Travis Jones 2B Round 7
At Danville, he's 4/10 with 2 strikeouts.

Sweet thanks for the update. I hope Jo-Jo Reyes is the real stuff, and that he is starting to develop at a higher level. If he can continue to dominate in Richmond, I hope we can use to make a playoff push, assuming we don't get what we need before the trade deadline.

What happened to James Jurries? Do we still have him? I know I saw him down in Spring Training last year, but there was no sign of him this year. Many people predicted him to be our next 1B, but he started getting old, and struggled some. I just don't remember hearing anything about letting him go, or a trade. Anyone know?

Jurries is no longer in the organization. After failing a steroid test, his stats plummeted and was released.

On top of that, nobody apparently wants him, as he is not playing professional basebal this season. I'm not sure if he's hurt and had surgery, though I didn't see any articles about this. Rather, I think nobody's going to give him a chance after his last two seasons and given the fact that he's in his late 20s already, so it wouldn't even be worth it going to an indy league and getting a tryout with some other team.

Anyone know why Stockman is in the GCL

Anyone know why Stockman is in the GCL

I'm not positive, but I think he is just coming back from injury so he probably has to work his way back up while getting healthy

Anybody know if Steven Evarts is hurt? He's on Danville's roster but hasn't pitched.

Stockman's had hamstring injuries all year (and last year, too...), so the third time that he went on the DL, the Braves shelved him and are putting him on a rehab assignment, which is why he's in Orlando right now.

Best I can find is that according to Baseball America blog Evarts was suspended on 6/26 for violating team rules.

He defaced someone's car in the offseason and got caught. Then he was injured near the beginning of the season, but is back now and pitching well.

Thanks! I did notice him in the box score from last night. Hope that is a one-time incident and doesn't become a pattern.
