Braves Win Behind Hudson, McCann

The Braves losing streak is over! The Braves scored runs on Monday like they were going out of style. Well, maybe they were. After only scoring one run over the previous five games, the Braves exploded for four runs against the Nationals on Monday.

The Braves received` an outstanding pitching effort from Tim Hudson, who received his first win since May 30. Hudson allowed just one run on seven hits over seven innings. He struck out nine batters.

The Braves picked up their first lead since last Monday in the fourth inning. Brian McCann used an opposite field single to drive in Edgar Renteria for the first run of the game. McCann wasn't done there. After the Nationals intentionally walked Andruw Jones in the sixth inning, McCann launched a three run homer to give the Braves a 4-0 lead.

The Braves, with four runs on the scoreboard, felt like they had an insurmountable lead.

"I'll tell you man, after we scored the one run it felt like three or four," Hudson said. "When Mac hit that three-run homer, I felt like we had a 10-run lead."

Rafael Soriano and Bob Wickman pitched the eighth and ninth innings to close out the win.

The Braves will attempt to piece together back to back wins for the first time since June 15-16 with a win on Tuesday. Buddy Carlyle will take the mound against the Nationals and Mike Bacsik.
