<font size="3"><strong>Carlyle Roughed Up As Braves Drop Series</strong></font>

Leading off the game, J.D. Drew took one swing and gave the Red Sox all the offense they would need to win this one. Though they didn't need them, the Red Sox still added ten more runs for a greater effect.

Drew lead off the game with a homerun while the Braves were shutout for the second consecutive night. The Red Sox weren't done with just the leadoff homer, however. The Sox poured on four more runs in the first inning and two more in the second to earn the right to coast their way to a series win over the Braves.

The Red Sox got homeruns from Drew and Coco Crisp in the first inning, David Ortiz in the second inning, Manny Ramirez in the seventh inning and Eric Hinske in the eighth inning.

While the Red Sox recorded five homeruns, the Braves scratched out just five hits and failed to score a run for the second straight game. Playing this one with the slumping Andruw Jones on the bench did not help the Braves offensive woes. All five of the Braves hits were singles.

The poor start was just the first for Buddy Carlyle this season. Prior to the game, Carlyle had a 4.44 ERA and had kept the team in each of his four starts. His fifth start, however, leaves the long-term journeyman in a struggle with job security. While he has earned the right for another start, the Braves made a trade before Wednesday's game that could put that in jeopardy.

Before the game, the Braves traded Macay McBride to Detroit in exchange for Wilfredo Ledezma. Ledezma has been used primarily out of the bullpen for the last two years in Detroit, but has the ability to start and the Braves may be forced to use him in that role sooner, rather than later.

Despite the recent tailspin for the Braves, the team is not out of the race. In fact, the team remains just 1.5 games behind the Mets in the NL East.

The Braves will attempt to get back in the win column on Friday against the Tigers. Kenny Rogers will make his season debut against John Smoltz.

This was very upsetting. I recorded it. When I got home for my lunch break, I watched the first half inning and couldn't stand watching the rest so I fast forward the rest. JS and company needs to get active and aquire a big league starter ASAP.
