The Bench

It is just plain awful. The only time the bench has any use is when we have a lefty starter but then we are starting Wilson. Woodward, Wilson, and Orr are useless so the only good guys off of the bench is the guy not starting in LF. Bobby doesn't use his backup catchers much so Salty isn't that useful.
So with a righty starter the bench has 2 okay guys Thorman and Harris.
With a lefty starter the bench has 1 okay guy Diaz.

I wouldn't mind trying to find some way to get both Betemit and Almedo Saenz from the Dodgers.

For me we they only could get Pete Orr and Woodward.

Craig Wilson hasn't looked that good but he should come around. He's a useful veteran with good power.

Woodward is very valuable in that he can play several positions. He's not a liability with the bat.

Harris/Orr are fast and versatile. They're the hard nosed ball players the team needs.

Pena is a good hitter and among the better backups in the league... He also has a pretty good arm and is fairly reliable behind the plate.

Diaz, when he's available from the bench, is an excellent hitter and a decent fielder.

The way I see it, there aren't any holes in our bench, and I would be perfectly fine if any one of these players had to be inserted into the everyday lineup for a few weeks.

I like our Bench. Alot of teams would love to have our Bench. Wilson is of concern but being a veteran I think he will come around and give his standard numbers.
