I know, I know... none of us want him back but I'm obligated to keep you posted.

He started his rehab assignment today against the Durham Bulls.

Game is still in progress, but Redman is done.

He pitched 5.1 innings. He gave up 5 hits and 2 walks, struck out 6. No runs.

I still think he should get his spot back when he comes back. If he gets roughed up, then we can let him go. Even if this start was against AAA players, it's still encouraging to see him have a good game. Guess we'll see before too long if the way he pitched for us over the first month was due to that toe injury or not.

Why let Redman blow another game when there are other better options like Davies, Cormier, Hodges, Villarreal, Lerew, Harrison, and Smith? Redman proved to us that there was a reason why he was available so late in the sprig. Rack him up as being finished and look towards finding a rough diamond to polish or use as trade bait like Damian Moss.

You want Redman to pitch for us? Do you also wish for us to lose?

Oh yes, you caught me.

All I am saying is he should be given one or two starts when he finishes his rehab to prove whether or not his bad start was due to the toe injury. If he struggles again, then give one of the young guns a chance. While he's not a great pitcher, he's not as bad as he showed during the first month.

I'm going to agree with you here. Give him at least one start, if he doesn't have it, take him out early and release him. Whats the big deal in sending Lerew back down when Redman is ready. No harm done, he wasn't staying all year anyway. If Cormier was up with the club and pitching well, it would be a different story. But since our number 5 guy is a fill in, give Redman a start.

Redman deserves at least one healthy start before completely shit-canning him.

Get two or three consistent rehab starts, then give him one more chance. He did pitch one good game.

Davies: I can see it
Cormier: great spring, yea
Hodges: as in Trey Hodges?!? Didnt the braves decide he was crap like 3 years ago?
Villarreal: not after today. Hes an okay relief pitcher
Lerew: yea maybe
Harrison: maybe next year
Smith: same as Harrison.

If Redman was pitching hurt, maybe that was really affecting him. From someone who has had bad ingrown toenails, when they get bad, you dont want to walk muchless participate in an activity that would put pressure on that toe.

My problem with Redman and the toe injury is he complained about having a "dead arm" like 3 starts before he went on the DL for a toe injury, and if the toe injury was affecting him so much, go on the DL earlier, it was quite clear you weren't pitching well.

I think that was McBride that was complaining about the dead arm. I think someone heard it wrong on the pre-game show that night and was hoping for the best since it came a night after Redman's outing in Florida.

The one guy that wants Redman to come back is Oscar Villarreal. Oscar knew he was going to get a few innings in every fifth day.
