Chipper on Bob Davidson:"The second Bobby stepped out of the dugout, [Davidson] was gunning to throw him out," Jones said. "Bob Davidson feels like the thousands of people in the park come to see him. He's always been like that. It's a joke among the players."
"[The call] wasn't what I was upset about," Jones said. "When Bobby came out of the dugout, [Davidson] was just waiting to throw him out before he even heard what he said. It's a shame the cameras have to put [Davidson] on TV for 30 seconds."Chipper on Sam Holbrook and the play at the plate:"How do you miss that?" Jones said. "How does a professional umpire miss that?"So, I hope Chipper is able to stay in the lineup for the upcoming stretch of games. When you combine these quotes with about 10-15 f-bombs on the field, MLB may not allow him to participate in some of this week's games.
And by all means, if you find more quotes from Chipper about the umpiring, add to the collection. He's getting about as quotable as Sir Charles ... okay, maybe not that far but he's certainly not keeping tight lipped anymore.

That Ump is a jackass, missed a blatant call, and tossed Bobby before he even got a word out. If MLB suspends Chipper they are as dumb as today's third base umpire.
i was going ape shit after each of those calls. especially after holbrook missed the tag when it happened right in front of him. and i liked seeing the fire from both bobby and chipper. unfortunately, mlb will probably take action, they dont really appreciate the "constructive criticism". plus, it sets a dangerous precedent allowing players to gripe about calls after each game.

Pete Van Wieren said on the radio that in the MLB rulebook, it states that if the manager leaves the dugout to argue either balls/strikes or an appealed swing, he is automatically ejected the second he leaves the dugout. So, either Chipper needs to read this rule or Pete needs to go back and reread things. Either way, Chipper is still the shit

Isn't Bobby 3 away now from being the All Time ejected from games leader! That would be a nice stat for his resume.

when has a player of manager been suspended for critizing the umpires?

I don't know about MLB, I know it's common in the NBA though. A fine may be more likely, but the possibility is there for a suspension.

I wish MLB imps were more like officials in the NFL...they take their shit from players/coaches like men because they understand the intensity and emotion that goes along with the games. They only throw people out as an absolute last resort. In general, they seem to "get it" that nobody gives a rat's behind about them. Conversely, MLB imps get their panties in a wad any time someone dares to question them...they are like police officers with their arrogance. Maybe some day we'll get a commish who can put them in their proper place...or just replace them with robots.

i stand behind my man. he said what needed to be said, umpires are not gods. they need to start respecting the players cause they are the reasons they have jobs. but thats my personal and very biast opinion.

I don't know if anyone else caught this tonight or not, but Bob Davidson was involved in another ejection tonight on a call that he BLEW. It was during the St. Louis/Colorado game. A Rockie hits a homer that hit a rail behind the outfield fence and bounced back onto the field. This guy says it hit the top of the wall and the player ended up on second with only a double. Needless to say Clint Hurdle was LIVID and ended up being ejected.
Cardinals fans should know this bozo, he robbed McGwire of what "would have been" HR #66 at Milwaukee back in 1998 with the same situation. McGwire may have had 71 had it not been for Davidson.
