Paronto on rehab assignment: In case you missed my post on the other blog an hour ago, Chad Paronto’s going to do a brief rehab assignment with Class A Rome on Monday and Ol' Double-A Miss on Wednesday, after which he’ll be activated from the DL and rejoin the bullpen. The Braves will obviously be glad to get him back; he’s a big part of the ‘pen, literally and figuratively.

Funny scene yesterday, when Paronto was walking back from the weight room here at Coors Field, and me and another guy were standing by the clubhouse door. "Just lifted the whole weight room," said Paronto, who is the size of a freezer.Good to see we're close to getting a bullpen guy back.

For some reason, I'm thinking that when Paronto comes back, Davies may be the man out and Villarreal moving to the rotation.

so do you think Davies will be the man out, or will it be Redman. Both have logged one good start each, but other than that they have been very effective at walking people and giving up runs.

Davies will be sent down first. They can bring Davies back. Redman will have to pitch his way out of the organization because he probably won't accept a minor league assignment. They'll be more lenient with him because of that.

I wonder when McBride is gonna comeback up b/c he threw 3 innings again the other night surrendering no runs again.

In all honesty, it may be as soon as tomorrow with the bullpen's use today and Colyer not being as sharp as he was when he came up. He may get a day to redeem himself though. If McBride's control is right, he should return shortly after. The thing you have to remember is that just because he has good stats, he's facing minor leaguers that may be swinging at bad pitches.

McBride will only be down there a little longer if he's locating ... unless they decide to try to stretch him out and try him as a starter again.

He did walk 3 guys and give up a pair of hits though, so I don't know if his control is quite where it needs to be yet.

And they have Will Startup if they really need another lefty and McBride isn't there yet.

I'm not sold on Villarreal as a starter quite yet. We'll see how things go. We tend to see him in blowouts rather than when things matter. It'll be a different ballgame for him out of the rotation.
