...the idea for this thread came from a post of mine from the Game 2 thread for September 13th.

Basically...what have certain members of the roster proven to you?

this is a serious thread, don't come in here and just spout BS just to spout it...

here are the ones i've come up with so far:

I think it's safe to say that LaRoche has showed ALOT of us that he can be our first baseman.

and McCann reinforced our feelings about how good he truly is.

and Hudson reinforced our feelings about how bad this deal has truly been.

and Edgar showed that he can still be a productive SS.

Chuck James - we can count on him to be a middle of the rotation starter next year, and at some points pitch like our "ace".

Bob Wickman - just having him here for half of a season might incline him to accept the deal quicker than he was going to last winter.

Mike Hampton - not really sure what he can add, but he's better than being stuck with Cormier or Shiell for an extended period.

Young relievers - McBride's improvement, Boyer and Devine's health status will make a huge improvement on the bullpen.

Chipper Jones won't give us a full season anymore, so don't even hope for it.

Matt Diaz will give us a quality bat off the bench and fill in for the corner OF, though I don't know if he is a full time OF option.

Langerhans didn't do anything to separate himself from the KJ/Langerhans debate. He even allowed Diaz to enter into the mix too.

Bob Wickman - If he only knew how much he has meant to this team. Hopefully he can sign here and help us get back to the playoffs.

Chipper - He's the face of our franchise, but we got to start thinking of a replacement at 3B, because his health is just too much of an issue. I still love him with my life.

Ryan Langerhans - Well, he's a nice guy to have defensively, but doesn't add anything offensively.

Adam LaRoche - Man, under all the scrutiny, this guy had saved our asses and made a team that could (should) be 15 games out of the wild card still only 5, 6 out. I consider him to be the Leandro Barbosa of the Braves. Shows flashes of brilliance, but makes a few bonehead mistakes at times. I think he's solidifed a spot as our 1B, although I've heard some still call for for a trade.

Andruw Jones - Probably our most valuable commodity. I hate how he's either a strike out, double play, or a HR. It's like throwing darts at a dartboard when this guy comes up. His defense is still strong, but I don't know. Despite all that...I'm not in favor of trading him.

Chuck James - This guy is our future ace. Might take a couple years, but I think he'll get there.

Relievers - I'm not suddenly optimistic about our bullpen potential based on a few weeks of people like Yates pitching better. We need help there.

Edgar Renteria - Way to soften the blow of losing Furcal.

McCann/Francoeur - These guys will be the future of this franchise. Francoeur has shown me that he CAN be patient if he puts his mind to it, he just has to do that. McCann, what can I say about McCann? Like LaRoche, he's been like a savior for our team.

Tim Hudson - I'm not in favor of trading Hudson either. I just don't think someone can be so good then suddenly drop off THAT bad. Something's wrong with him, but we need to use the offseason to fix whatever it is. You don't just give up on an ace like that.

Marcus Giles - I really don't know what I feel about him. He's awesome, just inconsistent.

Smoltz - Like a rock.

Horacio Ramirez - I guess 2004 really WAS a fluke.

Odd seeing all these names on here again... Like Wickman, LaRoache, Renteria, Diaz, Hudson.

wow...how times have changed. It's hard to even believe that we all used to think so highly of Chuckles.

Chuck James - we can count on him to be a middle of the rotation starter next year, and at some points pitch like our "ace".I can't believe I said that. It didn't take long into the 2007 season to realize that wasn't the case.

Young relievers - McBride's improvement, Boyer and Devine's health status will make a huge improvement on the bullpen.I wish we had a chance to see McBride. I think him, paired with Gonzo and Ohman this season, would have been death on other teams in the late innings. McBride could have done Ring's job more successfully, leaving Ohman to pitch complete innings and Gonzo to close.

Chipper Jones won't give us a full season anymore, so don't even hope for it.Two years later, point stands.

Matt Diaz will give us a quality bat off the bench and fill in for the corner OF, though I don't know if he is a full time OF option. Two years prior, I never knew I could be so right.

Langerhans didn't do anything to separate himself from the KJ/Langerhans debate. He even allowed Diaz to enter into the mix too.Who is Langerhans and why was he in a debate with KJ? Oh... Bobby created it, carry on.
