Hudson, Joneses Power Braves To Split

Throughout Spring Training, Tim Hudson blamed himself for last season's failures. He said he didn't pitch the way he should have and wanted to gain back the respect of his teammates this season.
So far, so good.
After throwing seven innings of six hit ball, Hudson picked up his second win of the season. After three starts, Hudson has pitched 21 innings, seven in each start, allowing only two runs to make up his 0.86 ERA.
Coming out of the gates, Hudson appeared to be shaky. He allowed a lead off single to Hanley Ramirez, who later stole second and moved to third on an infield single from Dan Uggla. Hudson then got a ground ball off the bat of Miguel Cabrera to get a double play, despite allowing a run on the play. He then got Mike Jacobs to ground out to end the inning.
That was the end of the Marlins scoring until after Hudson's departure however, now turning the offensive output to the opposite dugout.
The Braves got on the scoreboard in the third inning after sending ten men to the plate. Craig Wilson led off the inning with a single, while Hudson and Kelly Johnson followed with walks to load the bases.
Wilson scored on a base hit by Edgar Renteria, and Hudson scampered home after the ball got away from the catcher on the relay throw to give the Braves the lead. Chipper Jones followed that play with a three-run home run to deep left center field, giving the Braves a 5-1 lead after three innings.
After getting the lead, Hudson went back to the mound doing what he does best. Getting ground ball after ground ball. Hudson racked up 13 ground ball outs during his seven innings of work, also getting the benefit of three double plays, one more than the Braves had turned all season coming into the game.
The Braves add two more runs in the fifth inning as Andruw Jones added a deep two-run homer of his own. The home run marked the 57th time that both Jones boys had gone deep in the same game. The Braves are now 51-6 when the Jones homer in tandem.
The bottom of the sixth inning saw the Braves score another run as Jorge Julio struggled to find the strike zone. After striking out Tim Hudson, Julio walked Johnson, both Joneses and Jeff Francoeur to force in the Braves eighth run of the game.
The Marlins would add three more runs in the ninth inning as Peter Moylan made his season debut, one that he'd probably like to forget. He began the inning by allowing a soft infield single to catcher Miguel Olivo, followed by a single to center from Joe Borchard. They were chased home after Alfredo Amezaga tripled to right field, and Amezaga later scored on a ground out from Jason Wood. Bob Wickman was forced to relieve Moylan to get the final two outs and end the game.
The Braves will take the field Monday in Washington D.C. at 7:05. The game will feature two left handers squaring off as Chuck James and Matt Chico will take the mound for their respective teams. The game will be aired on SportSouth.
