Braves Fall In Series Opener

Dontrelle Willis gave up three runs in seven strong innings, striking out five Braves for his third win in as many starts.
Hanley Ramirez had two hits and scored three runs for the Marlins, who had lost two ended a two-game losing streak Cody Ross, Dan Uggla, Miguel Olivo and Joe Borchard drove in two runs each for Florida.
Mark Redman (0-2) struggled right from the start, giving up five runs in the first inning. Hanley Ramirez led off the game with a single to right, and Olivo drove him in with a bases loaded single. Ross then followed with a two run double. Later he scored on a sac fly from the bat of Aaron Boone.
That wasn't all of Florida's offense. They added two more runs in the third when Borchard hit a two run single. This ended the night for Redman, who allowed six hit and seven earned runs in 2.2 innings.
Chipper Jones hit a two run homer off Willis in the bottom of the third. Andruw Jones also scored on a Willis balk in the sixth. Also, Bryan Pena hit a solo home run in the 9th off Tankersly. His first of the season.
The Marlins added two more unearned runs in the eighth when Francoeur dropped a fly ball. Miguel Cabrera then had an RBI single and Josh Willingham had an RBI groundout in the eighth.
NOTES:
Chad Paronto left the game with a pulled muscle in the seventh inning when he came up lame after throwing strike three to Ross. Mark Redman now has a 12.96 ERA after allowing 12 runs in 8 & 1/3 innings. Willis is now 5-4 lifetime against the Braves. Also, Matt Diaz moved to first base for the first time in the bigs in the eighth inning.
