When you are unable to visit the forum for a day and you are finally able to click on the "New Posts" thread, and see 34 replies to posts in the Welcoming Center forum taking up two pages.

I mean, yeah, I'm all for greeting new members, but do we really need to have someone go through every new "welcome" message for an entire week and top every single one of them? And over the span of ten minutes to boot.

Shouldn't we have some sort of flood control in place to prevent this from happening? Or maybe some type of auto-purge for the Welcoming Center?

You know, I said the same thing when I got on here and saw that CBF went through and said "welcome!" to about 30 members.

I'm not aware of anything I can do to fix it, but yes, it is 1) annoying and 2) a problem.

I've deleted the 50 or so from last night. I've also sent him a PM to tell him not to do it again. I know others go through and post in about 8 or so, but he got about 50 last night, some of which were over a week old.

Remember how I was out for about two weeks or so? There were two straight pages of A) Welcoming threads and B) Those freaking RSS Agents. Earlier tonight, what with the game and the Langy trade, it was hard to find other threads. Is there a way to be able to choose which RSS feeds you see? Because it would really help.

There actually isn't chipperboy. That is why I took down the MLB.com and general baseball RSS feeds. You usually got a lot of new threads in a matter of minutes. I know it can be annoying, but that's why I've tried to label them in a way that they show as an RSS entry and not an actual thread.

I think that would be alright. The ESPN ones seems to be the worst anyway. Everytime I log in, there's always a bunch of ESPN threads, and sometimes multiple threads on the same topic.

maybe you could turn off post counting in the Welcome threads - reduces the "urge" to spam as such... :)

Well, that would kind of defeat the purpose. If we could turn it off for everyone except the person it was intended for that would be great, but if someone makes their first post in a Welcome Thread I'd want it to count for something.

Already done. I've disabled it from pulling in feeds for now to see how things go. Hopefully it'll be good like this.
