Of course.....of effing course.
A sideline-clearing brawl interrupted the third quarter of the Florida International-Miami game Saturday night, prompting the ejection of 13 players in the first meeting between the South Florida rivals.

13 players were ejected when both benches cleared during the third quarter of Saturday night's Miami-FIU game.
FIU had eight players ejected, Miami had five. It was the first on-field fight in FIU's five-year football history, school officials said.

Good bye Coker? I know FIU started this one, but with all the publicity about Coker losing control of the program, this can't look good.
Chief, I know that wouldn't disappoint you one bit to see him shown the door.

hell effing yes he needs to go.
first he runs the program into the ground and now he loses all control of his team and there is a MASSIVE fight in the Orange Bowl. Coker needs to go, the AD needs to go....multiple people need to go.

here's a quote from Larry Coker regarding the fight...
and it helps to show that he's an effing moron and needs to go!
"I think that it will affect the image of our program greatly, but in a positive way,” Miami coach Larry Coker said. “I think that when they see the video and they see how it was handled they will be impressed with our players. This will not be a very big thing for the University of Miami. It was impressive in that it was handled very well.”

LOL! I wish I could have seen a Hogs player take his helmet off and start hitting people with it. :)

i love my canes, but i'm not going to defend that fight.
all i'm going to say is that FIU started the actual fight. they jumped Miami's kicker. i know you should defend your brothers (much like a pitcher hitting a batter after one of his own was hit) but you can't run out there and start swinging helmets and doing back body drops.
i would love for the Miami to come back that everyone fears...but it isn't going to happen with the horrific team that Coker has turned us into. he's an awful coach. he has done NOTHING positive since he got here.

I wonder how long the "suspended" players will be suspended for. I hope for at least a few games (after they have played Ga Tech)

I think GaTech can beat us even if we have our normal starters in. suspensions are just going to make GT's win even bigger.
believe me, a GT team that plays well can handle Miami, we're just not what we used to be.

What else is new? Miami is nothing but a bunch of future convicts. Buncha cotdamn thugs who have no respect for anything.

Larry Coker? Fired.
Lamar Thomas? Fired.

The bench-clearing brawl resulted in 31 suspensions between the two schools.
Anthony Reddick and Brandon Meriweather? Dismissed.
The other 11 University of Miami players and 18 Florida International University players who took part in Saturday night's horrifying football gang warfare? Suspended for the remainder of the season.
Miami's 35-0 "victory" against FIU? Nullified. Wiped off the books.

one of my only problems with the aftermath of this fight is everyone is focusing on Miami.
FIU started the fight. I know no one gives a flying shit who FIU is and this is just the "thugs" at Miami being themselves but come on. All of the evidence points to the FIU players attacking one of our backup QB's and then all hell breaking loose. I'm not going to defend dumbass Reddick for swinging the helmet, i'm not going to defend the fight but come on...it's not all about Miami, FIU had just as much to do with it. Just because they're a nobody program that's currently 0 - 7, they get no attention. and no one can tell me that if they saw a teammate/brother getting attacked, that they wouldn't run over there and at least try to stop it.
here's a great quote...
Pete Garcia, UM's senior associate athletic director who begins his job as FIU athletic director Monday, issued apologies to Shalala, UM athletic director Paul Dee and UM and FIU fans. ''On behalf of President Maidique and FIU, I apologize to President Shalala, Paul Dee, to the UM fans and the FIU fans,'' Garcia said. ``There is no place in athletics for this type of behavior. They were gracious enough to grant us these games and they didn't have to. And this is how we repay them.''

well, look what i stumbled upon...the thugs at Miami aren't the only ones who get into fights!

here is an portion of an article that speaks truth....thank God...
There were many instances of heated words being exchanged during -- and before -- the game.
But shortly after halftime, unsportsmanlike turned into unruly.
Bryant bowed to the crowd after catching a touchdown pass with 9 minutes left in the third quarter. Moments later, Chris Smith wrestled Miami holder Matt Perrelli to the ground and punched him, and McDuffie kicked Perrelli in the helmet.
Morse jumped onto the Smith-Perrelli pile, Singleton followed and tried to punch the Hurricanes' Calais Campbell -- and benches began to empty.
Several players from both sides appeared to throw punches. Meriweather was seen attempting to stomp on FIU players, while an injured Golden Panther swung a crutch menacingly at several Miami players.

hmm... FIU enforces strict punishment while the Miami players get off easy.
maybe it has something to do with Miami playing Duke next week and then Georgia Tech, so UM can only afford to ban guys for 1 game
