Anybody know why Kobe is now number 24?, he had always suited up with number 8.

He announced late last season he was making the move to #24 -- his first HS number -- this year. He said he originally wanted the number as a rookie but it was unavailable, and making the move now symbolizes the start of the second half of his career.

His attempt to be one better than Michael Jordan, since he knows that is the only way.

Kind of off-topic, but Amare changed his number from 32 to 1. I forget his reasons and I really don't want to look them up, but whatever, just thought I'd throw it out there.

I think he chose 24 because that is how many time he cheated on his wife so far. 8 Was for the times he could have been charged with rape. I hate....I mean I loathe Kobe Bryant. I never liked Jordan, but Kobe doesn't belong in the same story, let alone sentence as MJ. What a classless punk.
