Not sure whether to put this here or in the Minor league forum, but who should we keep an eye out for to possibly earn a spot on the opening day roster or even possibly be called up to fill a hole this year?

Pitching
I would suspect that Lerew and Harrison will be used to challenge Davies for the 5th spot in the rotation, but basically used as motivation and start the year in AAA. From there, they will be used to be spot starters during the year.

Startup is another guy to watch. I see him competing for a bullpen spot in the Spring.

Does Devine still fit into this conversation? How about Boyer?

Position Players
Aybar, Prado, Johnson will all make the team out of ST (if Giles is traded in Prado's case).

Pena may be the backup catcher.

Look for Thorman to either make the team or be traded to open room for Ward.

I don't see anyone that we haven't already seen in the majors offensively. Everyone is coming back, except probably Giles and maybe Pratt. Aybar/Prado and Pena will fill those spots.

Look for Thorman to either make the team or be traded to open room for Ward.I know I said this when DeRosa didn't have his contract tendered two years ago, but if Thorman is cut loose in order for Daryle F'n Ward to get a roster spot, I will cut any and all ties that I have to this team.

Depends on the trade in my opinion. If it's to choose Ward over Thorman, I agree, but if it's to upgrade the team by using Thorman and then decide to bring Ward back as a bench guy, I probably wouldn't mind it.
