James/Wickman/Gonzalez/Soriano all due to pitch today.
--------
I'm a little late on the PBP, but Chuck had an easy first inning and the Braves were just retired in the 1st. Scoreless after 1.
Won't be doing any play-by-play but if anything important happens I'll post it.

5 shutouts innings for both teams. good for james, not for our hitters... Miller who ?

Adam Miller is very good. He's going to be a stud.
McCann just tripled off the top of the CF fence, scoring Tony Pena. JS Jr. is pinch running for him.
Doug Clark with a 2B scoring JS Jr. 2-0 Braves.
Thorman with an RBI single to RF, thrown out trying to get to 2nd. 3-0 Braves.

It's 4-0 now. I missed exactly how the run scored, but we're up 4-0 going to the 8th.

Brayan Pena got the 4th rbi and Harris scored it. Don't see how though since it looks like they both hit singles

Braves win! 6-0
Wickman, Soriano, Gonzalez and Paronto pitched perfect innings. Good quick ballgame, hopefully we have quite a few of them this year.

Im really hoping Paronto gets a spot in the bullpen!
With a bullpen like:
LR- Villareal
MR-Paronto
MR-Yates
MR- McBride
SU- Soriano
SU- Gonzalez
CL- Wickman
we would have it all. I heavy sinker/groundball pitcher in paronto. A couple of major heat throwers in Yates and Soriano. The McBride is a lefty specialist.. then in the 8th and 9th we have 2 of the best closers in the NL

Less than two weeks .... I can't wait!
However since I have to, I hope Chipper, Aybar, Diaz and Hampton recover quickly in the mean-time.

Hampton threw again today and felt great. He may get on the mound as soon as tomorrow.

Here's the thing with Hampton... [this probably should be moved to another thread but whatever]
Since he bats right handed, while throwing left handed, his oblique he pulled/strained/whatever he did is not the one that stretches when pitching. This is why he's healing ahead of schedule. He asked Hudson and Woody Williams about the typical heal time, they said a month before you can even throw again. That's where they 6 weeks came in. What they didn't factor in is that it wasn't the more vital oblique to his delivery, so he's way ahead of schedule, he just has to be careful when he's hitting.

Our lineup is looking pretty good, so I hope he dosen't try to do too much with the bat. If he can still lay down a bunt that's good enough for me.

Yeah, let Hampton lay down a bunt in every at-bat, even with the bases empty. He's a good-hitting pitcher, but right now I'd rather he get back to pitching than worry about hitting and re-aggravating that injury.

FYI .... I just read the little clip over at AJC about James' outing and our starters have a 2.25 ERA this spring. These games don't mean a thing, but that's still an extremely great frickin statistic.

Is that the guys that start games or the 6 guys that could be in the rotation? It may not have said it, but I wonder if that includes the times that Cormier came in relief to pitch in innings 3-8 even though he is a starter.

Good question. It didn't say .. but my guess is that it's just the guys who have started games.
From ESPN:
Atlanta's starters have stellar ERAs. Buddy Carlyle (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6324), who has not allowed a run in 10 innings, is followed by Lance Cormier (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=7359) (1.29), Tim Hudson (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6245) (1.80) and John Smoltz (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=4232) (1.93). Braves starters have a 2.25 ERA, allowing 18 earned runs in 72 innings.
