It may not mean much to anyone here, but I just thought I'd pass along that the TV ratings for 2009 went up over the ratings in 2008.
FSN South had a 3.52 rating this year (up 35.4%) and SS had a 3.42 rating this year (up 34.6%). Those are some of the biggest ratings jumps in all of baseball.

That's good news I guess. If there a way to see where our TV ratings rank among all of baseball? I'd imagine we'd be pretty high.

That link has them listed in order. We're about the middle of the back as far as ratings go but up near the top in increase.
At the regional level, half the clubs saw ratings increases with biggest gainers being the Nationals (up 67 percent), Rangers (up 58 percent), Giants (up 39 percent), Braves (up 35 percent), and Rockies (up 26 percent).
Decliners were the A’s (down 53 percent, this season on CSN California), Indians (down 27 percent), Reds (down 23 percent), and Brewers (down 17 percent).

Attendance didn't really change. Ratings were down throughout baseball.

Attendance was down over 6% right?

Braves attendance dropped 2K per game. It's not like it was a huge drop. Not enough to make up for a 35% increase in television ratings.

How much of a difference do TV ratings make to a team's revenue stream ? I assume the effect of attendance is more easily quantifiable, but perhaps not so much on TV viewership. I'm just wondering if, in the Braves' case, becoming a more profitable asset for Liberty Media might allow for an increase in payroll next year or at some point in the future. At least, I wouldn't want the budget to fall by a large amount. That said, I'd still like to see more fans in seats.
I wonder if anyone's done some kind of correlation analysis on team win/loss improvement over two consecutive seasons, compared with increase in attendance in the following third season. All else equal, of course.
