Well hopefully he can get back, throw strikes and get outs now

Crazy.
Makes sense though. Not that he's an amazing pitcher but he's not as bad as he has been pitching lately.
Hope it all works out for him.

glad they discovered it before it was too late.
and from a baseball perspective, glad there was a legitimate/reversible reason for his drop in performance. :)

I have the same type of diabetes that he was just diagnosed with, and it's very manageable if you take care of it. I have no problem playing sports and being active, you just have to be diligent in treating high/low blood sugars.
Good luck to Buddy.

Diabetes is some serious shit. I'm glad they figured it out. As he said, worry about every day life things before worrying about your baseball career. I've known some people with diabetes that have been very good baseball/basketball players. It's just a matter of getting it figured it out.

Im happy he figured it out and glad he's dealing with it correctly. I don't know why, but I've always liked Buddy for whatever reason.

I'm just surprised he's doing injections instead of an insulin pump...because it's so much easier to manage through an insulin pump (which is as close to an artificial pancreas as you can get). I know Cutler got a pump right off the bat. I have one, and it is a world's difference away from having to do injections.
Basically, if you're doing injections, you have to use 2 different types of insulin...one for a steady stream that doesn't affect carbohydrate consumtion and is always the same dosage, and one that you inject yoursef with whenever you consume carbohydrates that is variable depending on how many carbohydrates you take in. With the insulin pump, you use 1 type of insulin, only have to inject yourself once every 2-3 days, and you control the amount of insulin you give via a display function that has a built in calculator that calculates the insulin dosage needed.
Haha, now that I've ranted, maybe that helps a little?

Those that I know with diabetes use the pump, as well.

It's ridiculously easy compared to injections...it almost makes you forget you're diabetic. Here's mine.

Wow, Buddy is still a guy I pull for a lot, even though I've been calling for him to go. Obviously this is a pretty valid reason for a drop in performance. Hopefully, he can adjust to this and get back to being a trusty arm for us.
