JaMarcus Russell headlining...Louisiana State quarterback JaMarcus Russell will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft in April.

A news conference is scheduled for Wednesday to announce the decision, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Sunday.

Russell, a 6-foot-6, 260-pounder from Mobile, Ala., was the nation's No. 3-ranked quarterback in passing efficiency this season. He threw for a career-high 332 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers' 41-14 victory over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday night.

Despite outplaying Brady Quinn in that game, Russell is still ranked No. 2 on the initial draft board of ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr., behind the Fighting Irish quarterback. Some others entering:
Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolina
Jon Beason, LB, Miami
Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas
Chris Houston, CB, Arkansas

Russell has the better arm, no doubt. I just don't think he's a better QB than Quinn. I see Quinn as the best QB prospect ready to start since Peyton Manning, but see Russell more in the Daunte Culpepper mode. He has the better arm, definitely, but being a QB requires more. He had his career game and will make a lot of money and may even be better suited to go number one to the Raiders considering his big arm and large frame, but I if I had to bet, I have Quinn having the better career.

I would be more willing to bet on Quinn too. Ol' Charlie said that Quinn may be the 3rd best QB in the NFL when he gets drafted. That's probably being biased, as I'm sure the other two are Peyton and Brady. But Russell has all the tools to make him attractive, more attractive than Troy Smith for sure.

He has flaws, but he just needs to get to a team that won't throw him to the wolves and let him come along slowly.

Naaa... his name isn't Williams. Wouldn't surprise me if they did though, one of these days they'll find out they need a QB to get all of them the ball. And remember that that Kevin Jones guy is a pretty good running back.

Ive said it before, but the Falcons need to trade to get him, they need a reciever who can catch anything. If Clavin could catch passes from Reggie Ball, then he can catch from vick
