I, frankly, wasn't expecting this.

But some were.

Hurts as a Steeler fan.

Where do they go now in terms of coaching?

Mike Schula?

I was expecting it and it's why I felt Whisenant had a job lined up. No doubt he will be back in two years (probably not with the Steelers)

i must be missing something or i missed some bad early years, but 116 wins in 15 years? that seems really low, thats less than 8 wins a season?

Between the Super Bowl appearances, we weren't that great of a team.

His record is 149-90-1. Haven't looked at the article, but if they gave him 116 wins, they are wrong. He never won less than six in a single season.

That sounds better. We weren't ever that bad but they had a group of mediocre years with Maddox and Stewart at the helm.

uuh, he sort of lost 8 this year.

uuh, he sort of lost 10 in 2003.

uuh, he sort of lost 7 in 2000.

Need i go further?

Sorry...I meant he never won less than six in a single season. Too much multitasking.

I am going to miss Bill Cowher.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been my team just as long as the Atlanta Braves have. Although I don't have a passion for football like I do for baseball.

Hopefully things only get better from here.

Cowher is just burned out. I think he would have retired last year with Jerome if they hadn't have won the Super Bowl.

i almost wonder if cowher will come back to the steelers in a couple years, he is def burned and wants the time off, but he is the face of that organization, he is still young and if the next coach struggles the fans will be calling to have him back

Tomlin named coach.

This is kind of weird for me. My favorite team is now being coached by a guy who has previously coached at my alma mater, Arkansas State University. Small world.
