They just announced on SS that Kotsay was scratched from the starting lineup and they don't believe it to be injury related.

Started running down the fact he's cleared waivers and has had some interest on the trade market.

Time to start looking around some blogs for the Red Sox, Phillies and Brewers to see if we can find something.

It frees up at bats, but I wouldn't expect anything more than PTBNL or a mediocre prospect.

Gah.. Why dont they just trade Chipper, Mac, Frenchy, and the rest of the team...

He was pretty well Atlantas hottest hitter... I totally loved Kotsay, and if its true it's gonna be hard to see him go.. :(

Hey MC I think we made it happen lol.

Why would it be hard to see him go? He only had a month or so left anyway. It wasn't likely that they would have brought him back next year unless they could have gotten him for $2 million again. That wasn't likely to happen. They couldn't offer arbitration to get a draft pick because he wouldn't qualify as a Type B and if offered arbitration his salary would be around $8 million. He's not worth that.

Hottest hitter? Since hitting for the cycle, he's gone 4-25.

KOTSAY SCRATCHED. Could be a trade. Wren went in Cox’s office this afternoon and closed the door for a while.

I'm guessing the Sox. Not really going out on a limb, just seems logical.

I'm going with the Phillies. With Jenkins on the DL, I think they came in quickly.

Drew was placed on the DL today too though. I think we could get more value from a non division rival too.

I doubt he'd clear waivers, though as low as we are on the totem pole, we may have claimed him.

Well, I guess for wishful thinking I'm going to hope for either Michael Bowden (http://www.baseball-reference.com/route.cgi?player=1&mlb_ID=476601). I'm sure that's high, but I'm hoping. :)

I guess since I know we won't get him, I'm not setting myself up for any kind of disappointment.

It pisses me off that I know all that will come of this is more playing time for Infante and Blanco, not BJones.

-----

Now, for an actual guess on who it may be, I'm going to guess it's one of these players:

Felix Doubront
Stolmy Pimentel
Manuel Rivera

I'd like to get my hands on Bryan Price and/or Kyle Weiland but they were drafted this year and can't be traded yet.

I'm gonna assume the Braves thinking is its too early to look for next year. Yes, they know they're out of it and having a horrible year, but i think we've all read comments by Cox and the players recently how they're going to 'keep busting their tails.'

Omar has been one of our best hitters, so i can see why.

That said, with Kotsay traded the doors are finally opened up. I think you have to call up Schafer now. But, its not going to be an easy lineup to fill out.

Someone will have to be the odd man out. At some point in September, yeah we have to play Jones and Schafer a lot.
