From the Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-maddux19-2008aug19,0,465488.story):
The Dodgers today acquired veteran pitcher Greg Maddux in a trade with the San Diego Padres, according to a person familiar with the deal, speaking on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced.

It was not immediately known who was sent to San Diego in exchange for Maddux, a future Hall of Famer who is 6-9 this season with a 3.99 earned-run average.

So who ends up winning the West? Are Manny and Maddux going to get the Dodgers over the hump or was adding Dunn enough for the Diamondbacks to take it? Does Arizona make another move in response to this one?

I second that. Since I have no dog in the fight, I'd love to see one of the best pitchers in the game host the trophy one more time. It's sad to think that baring a few less injuries, he might have been headed back to Atlanta

Let's see how Maddux and his 5.75ERA out of Petco will do with the Dodgers. I hope their offensive ridden lineup will at least get him some wins and move him up the W ladder!

I would never root for the Dodgers, even IF my favorite pitcher of all-time is on their roster.

Cool, now how can we adjust AJ's BA to make it look a little better?

That is for sure, as much as I like Maddux and the other former Braves now with the Dodgers, there is no way I can cheer for someone with Manny Ramirez on there team. The way he gets cheered on in LA is no good the way he quit in Boston. Give me Bonds!

It's not like he plucked that stat out of the blue, he's been using it and explained it since he came back to this forum.

MPH was joking.

Umm, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure he was trying to call BG out on making Maddux's road/home splits look better than they actually are. In which case, what I said makes a lot more sense than you telling me that he was joking.

I will root for Maddux every time as I want him to past the Rocket in lifetime wins.

But I hate the Dodgers, always have and always will.

I do not believe you are correct sir. MPH has a lot of respect for BG, and that's been well documented around these boards. He's just poking a little fun at the shell of our former center fielder. It's all good!
