Game 1, Week 2
#18http://www.collegefootballplayoff.com/images/logo_tennessee.gif@http://www.walterfootball.com/college/UCLA_logo.gif

1st Quarter:
Tennessee kicked off to UCLA to begin the game. However, UCLA couldn't take advantage of that, with quarterback Patrick Cowan throwing an interception to Tennessee's Dennis Rogan on the first possession of the game. Tennessee capitalized on this miscue, with Arian Foster scampering 43 yards for the game's first touchdown putting the score at UT 7, UCLA 0.On the next UCLA possesion, the Bruins still couldn't muster any offense, going 3 and out and punting the ball to the men in orange and white. Tennessee's star kicker Daniel Lincoln then hit an astonishing 56-yard field goal to extend Tennessee's lead to UT 10, UCLA 0. However, UCLA's offense began to click. Senior quarterback Patrick Cowan connected with wide reciever Dominique Johnson on an 88 yard touchdown pass that shrunk Tennessee's lead to UT 10, UCLA 7. Tennessee responded with a vengeance, however, with quarterback Jonathan Crompton throwing a touchdown pass to tight end Luke Stocker to peg Tennessee's edge to UT 17, UCLA 7. UCLA weakly went down to end the 1st quarter, managing yet another 3 and out to give back possession to the Volunteers.

2nd Quarter:
Tennessee began the 2nd quarter of play with a bang when Arian Foster ran for an 11 yard touchdown, extending Tennessee's lead to UT 24, UCLA 7. After this huge touchdown, UCLA's offense began to show signs of life. Patrick Cowan threw yet another touchdown pass to Dominique Johnson, narrowing Tennessee's lead to UT 24, UCLA 14. Tennessee then fell flat on its face offensively, managing a weak 3 and out. UCLA took advantage of Tennessee's offense failure, with kicker Kai Forbath hitting a 50-yard field goal to close the scoring gap to UT 24, UCLA 17. The second half's scoring ended with Tennessee kicker Daniel Lincoln nailing a 30 yard field goal to extend Tennessee's lead to UT 27, UCLA 17. The rest of the 2nd quarter went by uneventfully.

3rd Quarter:
The 3rd quarter ended up being the least eventful quarter of the game. To lead off the 3rd quarter, Patrick Cowan threw a 71 yard touchdown pass to Terrence Austin to dwindle the Volunteer's lead to UT 27, UCLA 24. However, the Vols responded with a 3 yard touchdown run by stud running back Arian Foster to put Tennessee's edge up to UT 34, UCLA 24. UCLA ended the 3rd quarter with the ball, hoping to put together a rally against the mighty Volunteers of Tennessee.

4th Quarter:
UCLA punted the ball after their attempt to put another score on the board against the Vols. The Vols regained possession of the ball deep within their own territory. On an option play, Jonathan Crompton pitched the ball to reserve running back Montario Hardesty, who was stripped of the ball by UCLA safety Rahim Moore. UCLA couldn't muster any yards on their possesion deep in the red zone. Kai Forbath attempted a 27-yard field goal, which would've shrunk the Vols lead to one possession. However, Tennessee reserve cornerback Antonio Gaines blocked the field goal attempt, resulting in a UCLA turnover. However, Tennessee could not take advantage of this turnover. Jonathan Crompton threw a lame duck interception to UCLA safety Bret Lockett, which gave UCLA possession of the football in the red zone. However, the Bruins were denied of any score by a goal line stand by Tennessee's solid D-Line. UCLA regained possession of the football yet again, however, Patrick Cowan threw yet another pick, this time to Tennessee linebacker Rico McCoy. The Vols then ran out the clock, putting the icing on the cake of a victory.
