I am trying to get a SP for J.J. Hardy in my non-keeper Yahoo league.
His line on the season:
.283 87 H 42 R 13 HR's 40 RBI's .824 OPS 33 BB's
What would you give up for Hardy? I have Reyes, so Hardy is expendable. I want a quality SP for him, but it looks like the market in that league isn't in my favor for a deal like that. What would be the best starter I could get for him?

Maybe like a Jake Westbrook or a Ted Lilly
This is way off base but who cares...I absolutely hate J.J. Hardy. He is the most overrated player in baseball aside from David Wright IMO.

JJ is definitely over-rated, he puts up one ridiculous month a year and everyone thinks he's some sick power hitting SS. But how is Wright over-rated?

I like Justin Verlander for the second half, but maybe that's a bit too obvious because he's been tough lately. Derek Lowe wouldn't be a bad choice. Maybe one of Boston's pitchers, Wakefield's pitched real well lately but hasn't gotten the run support (bit of a gamble). Jonathan Sanchez is a K machine, but good luck with wins. If you need help with ERA/WHIP Campillo could be a good fit... Just throwing names out that rank somewhere around Hardy on Y!
My advice would be to find the guy who is really weak at SS, and package another pitcher, and maybe another player after that and go for one of his top pitchers, if they look attractive.
2-for-1's, and 3-for-1's are the way to go. At least in my book. Get the best player in the deal, then fill in the holes with hot bats, mid-relievers, and whatever else beneficial you can find in the FA bin. Maybe even free up a early spot for Fransisco Liriano, but that'll all depend on your waiver priority I'm sure.

I agree with you to some extent, and part of the hype is b/c he was considered a top prospect.
The numbers usually don't lie though.
His stats last season
.277 avg 26 HR's 80 RBI's 40 BB 73 K in 592 AB's
Eerily similar to this year. Now granted last year his big month was May, but this season, he was good in June, and is still good in July. He could be breaking out, but no doubt his highest value is right now.
Plus I have J Reyes starting SS right now, so he is surplus.
