You know your offense is beastly when you have a pitcher at 7-3 with a 4.60 ERA. Charlie is gonna make a name for himself tonight.

Luckily, everyone else in the East sucked during June, too. Kendrick's gonna wish he was in Japan after tonight's game. :)

This is our time to say we're for real or we need to quit. We have to win at least two of these and gain a game on the Phillies. They don't even know who they're going to use on Thursday, chances are it won't be Myers (I think they'll go with Hamels), so winning this first one is going to be big.

Hopefully Morton can keep us in this one against a tuff tuff team.

This is going to be huge for us. We could be as much as 7 games back, or as little as 1 back. If we can play our game, which means great pitching, we can take this series.

With Chipper playing, I think Bobby might move KJ to the 6 spot and have Escobar slot in at #2 like we wanted a while ago.

LF- Blanco
SS- Escobar
3B- Jones
1B- Teixeira
C- McCann
2B- Johnson
RF- Francoeur
CF- Kotsay
P- Morton

Kotsay behind Francoeur to avoid 3 lefties in a row.

McCarroll21
07-01-2008, 05:53 PM
Escobar's not playing. The article about Chipper said Escobar should be ready by Wednesday. We'll have either Lil'bridge, Infante or Prado playing SS tonight.

I think I'd like Kelly back in the leadoff roll now that he's got it going though. I'd put Kelly leading off with Blanco 8th and Kotsay 6th. Kelly can be real dynamic with his doubles in the leadoff spot, Blanco is basically going to get to first at best.

Yeah. "I hope you're healthy in October so you can go hunting and play with your kids."

Yeah, I'm sure he's just dogging it so he can only play when he wants. He's got a real shot at hitting .400 and team is in a race. He's not going to sit out games to make him ineligible for a magical number and the playoffs again.

I guess the fact he felt better running in the outfield than he did every time he had done it since being injured had nothing to do with it. If he wasn't legitimately hurting, 50% effort while running wouldn't be his mark. If he was dogging it, he would just take it off before having to play at less than 100%.

I just hate that people take shots at Chipper for not playing every day when he's made so many sacrifices for this team.

ATlinVA
07-01-2008, 06:23 PM
Everyone else was saying how serious that torn muscle was. I said no one knew how serious or not serious it was. But I guess it wasn't that bad if he went from needing 10 days off to hopefully playing tonight. And I was right! My main issue was that he wasn't playing through it. Now he is. I'm happy. He realized the team needed him and he's manning up. Grew a little hair on his chest!

Go Braves!

McCarroll21
07-01-2008, 06:30 PM

I signed up on that board a long time ago, even though i don't remember it. When i was getting ganged up i went and posted over there. I already apologized to McCarroll. Do you need an apology as well?

You didn't get ganged up. You made an statement that nobody agreed with and then couldn't handle it when everyone responded to you. It's a message board and if you can't handle backing up your statements without whining about it then you don't need to be on one.

Either way, I don't want this to get out of hand anymore than it already has, especially in the game thread. so let's just all agree to drop it and move on. It's Charmer Lotion time!

I think I handled it and backed everything up rather nicely considering what some people were saying/doing. I'm on here because this is where the most braves fans are and I enjoy the discussions. I apologize to everyone and will choose my words more wisely next time.

DOB says that Hamels is moving up to take Myers' spot on Thursday. There's a shutout waiting to happen, gotta get these first two.

We've won every single home start by Jair though. It should be interesting.

I would think it's BJones too since Lil'bridge is playing. I think tomorrow Lil'bridge goes down and Prado comes back. Prado got some time in LF on his rehab, so he'll give us another patchwork outfield option.

ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIA:

After being founded in 1883 as the "Quakers," the team changed its name to the "Philadelphias", after the convention of the times. This was soon shortened to "Phillies."[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Phillies#cite_note-TBT-3) "Quakers" continued to be used interchangeably with "Phillies" until 1890, when the team officially became known as the "Phillies."
