Because, I mean, why call a guy up and send a guy out and actually use him? That'd be smart.

Of course you wouldn't put B Jones out there tonight! It makes far too much sense. Meh, maybe he's tired coming from Richmond to Chicago....maybe. Nice to see Chipper in the line-up though.

With the way things have gone this year, he probally slipped and strained a quad muscle coming off the plane.

Seriously though, I hope the Braves can come out and get a win tonight. It would be nice for a change.

Why all the whining just because Brandon Jones isn't in the lineup tonight? It's not like he's been lighting it up down in AAA. Norton has been doing alright when he's been in the lineup lately.

Outfield prospect Brandon Jones and left-hander Jeff Ridgway have been recalled from Richmond. Ridgway will take Glavine's roster spot. To make room for Jones, the Braves (http://www.ajc.com/braves/content/sports/braves/index.html?cxntlid=linkr) sent outfielder Josh Anderson to Richmond.

So Ridgeway is here today too? Ok, ok....cool beans...I like JA though man, I hate seeing him sent down....

Ok, why in the devil did we call Ridgway up? Doesn't that give us a short(er) bench and another lefty in the 'pen? Wasn't there anyone else to bring up or better yet, couldn't we have kept Anderson?

brnt247

So we still have to make a move for a position player in the next few days and make room for Mike Gonzales. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Nope, same amount of people on the bench as before. Jones replaces Anderson; Ridgway replaces Glavine.

To me, it's bothersome because it makes me think he's not even there and we already optioned out a player. Makes me think we're playing short a few players.

We could have at least kept Anderson on the roster until BJones got there. If he's actually there and available to use, then I really have no problem with it.

I don't see Norton as a liability. He's a hell of a hitter, he just had too many 0-1s as a pinch hitter and not many at-bats. Norton's not still in the majors because of his glove, I'll tell you that.

I love him off the bench, the perfect bench player, but IMO he's a liability when he starts.

Yeah, and the numbers back that up...

Starter - .264/.350/.453 - .803
Sub - .222/.417/.222 - .639

More walks as a pinch hitter but more power when given more than one shot to hit.

timmy
06-11-2008, 08:47 PM
I think he's mostly just a liability in left field. It's about like how it was like to watch Dave Martinez in left. He's a butcher.

Because JA and Blanco are the same player. It should have been Blanco go down though; JA's a better player. If Blanco were better, we wouldn't have felt the need to go out and trade for JA in the first place.

Well, if production is a requirement to have a job on this team, we should just play with no outfield. :)

Brandon Jones - AAA .709 OPS
Jeff Francoeur - ML .712 OPS

I have lowered my expectations from the Braves. All the losses should be easier to swallow now.

We will lose tonight......and the cubs will complete the sweep tommorrow. Then if I had to put up my hard earned money I would bet we get swept by the Angels as well.

I dont expect us to win til Monday against the Rockies.

It's not a matter of crowning him as the left fielder, it's not like any of the guys we have that can play the outfield should be viewed as starters. It's trying to find the best of the junk we have available to us and maybe find a diamond in the rough.

Sutcliffe is one of the worst announcers there are, this game will at least be funny.

LOL, I'm listening to Pete and Chip on the radio instead. Pete just said that Hampton has had a couple good side sessions and they are considering letting him skip the rehab starts and just coming straight off the DL to the big leagues. That's how bad it's gotten with the injuries.
