Their lineup is real, ours is my best guess.

Let's get some chatter going in here instead of filling up the Kotsay/Anderson thread with stuff about Volquez.

Volquez looks pretty good, just looking at his numbers. 7-2 with a 1.31 ERA is impressive.

The first loss came to us, the second loss came in a relief appearance last week in San Diego. He gave up three unearned runs and took the loss.

Blanco needs to be leadoff, then Escobar.

Well, seeing as how the second post says our lineup is just a guess (based on the recent games), I wouldn't put too much stock in it. I'm hoping for Blanco-Escobar, too.

With FLA and PHI playing, it would be nice to win a few games against the reds this series.

And the communist are sending Clayton Kershaw to the mound tonight to faces the Mets Johhn Maine. Go Communist!

here you go Mac:

Per Carroll Rogers:
just up from the clubhouse. yes they’ve disabled Kotsay and called up Josh Anderson. bobby said Kotsay tried to take a few swings yesterday before the game and it didn’t go well, so he flew back to Atlanta last night and will be evaluated by doctors in Atlanta today. He’ll have an MRI.

Anderson is not in the starting lineup and Bobby said he’ll use him “in left field, to pinch run, that kind of stuff.”
Norton is in left and Blanco in center.

Yikes for Kotsay...hope everthing is fine...he said that the pain in his back is not where he had surgery,right??..Bobby never learns..Norton in Left..what the heck??

Bobby: Welcome to the team Josh, I usually like to start guys right away, but since ole Greg Norton can Switch Hit, I'm going to use him instead. Don't worry, you will get to pinch run for somebody real soon!

I'm still kinda hoping he let's Blanco leadoff and have Johnson bat 6th....I can keep dreaming though.

timmy
05-30-2008, 05:42 PM
Bobby I thought you were all about outfield defense?

Give the kid a chance, what's the worst thing that could happen? He could go 0-for just like Norton's gonna, but we'd still have a better glove in left.

Jsh1284
05-30-2008, 05:46 PM
Norton in left AGAIN makes no sense. Put the good glove/speedster in there. Norton is only good for a pinch hit here and there. He's no damn major league starter. Someone needs to smack bobby upside the head with a properly filled out lineup card. Seriously.. having Norton out there WILL end up biting us in the rear end. Its not a matter of if, its a matter of when he screws up and takes a bad route on a key play.

Otherwise .. GO BRAVES! This rookie is due to have a bad game. Let's be the team that really puts it on him and knock him out early. Wear out their pen for the rest of the series.

05-30-2008, 05:56 PM
I'm torn. I know I have to start Volquez on my fantasy team, but i just don't want to. I could say I'd like to see a low scoring game, but really I'd love for the Braves bats to go crazy tonight. But Volquez is too good to bench.

Jsh1284
05-30-2008, 06:01 PM
Same situation with you that I had with Brandon Webb earlier this week. I couldn't bench him but I gladly traded a jacked up ERA on my fantasy team for a nice Braves win in real life. I assume it'll be the same thing with you when we rack up a bunch of runs for Tommy tonight and beat up on Volquez. :)

Jsh1284
05-30-2008, 06:04 PM
I've decided to try and bring our team some good fortune by making Glavine my avvy for the night. This should get the job done! If not, I'll go back to my standard Hudson jersey.

Yeah, I'm a superstitious baseball player/fan .. haha.

timmy
05-30-2008, 06:05 PM
Without a doubt. Even though I'm in the middle of a really tight race, and really need my ERA and WHIP to be going down not up. Braves gotta start winning on the road though.

Here's to Teixiera landing (or should I say sinking) one into the Ohio River tonight!

Moylan #58

Maybe Anderson doesn't have his equipment with him or they ran out of letters for the jersey?

GrandMasterB
05-30-2008, 06:49 PM
Volquez has only allowed two earned runs in a game once all season. That's just insane. Too bad for him we're gonna have to rough him up a little tonight.

Damn, Yunel really is leading off again tonight.:refuck:

I wouldn't mind him leading off if he didn't change his approach so much. I don't know why he thinks he has to swing at everything as a lead off guy. Maybe that's how they did it in Cuba? lol

not sure about in cuba but that is the mentality for a lot of players that come from the different islands in the Caribbean. you get signed by swinging the bat, not walking. vlad and soriano are two great examples.

Why is Norton batting in front of Blanco?

I think Bobby is trying to make a Cardinals type of line-up, where they have the pitcher hitting in front of Izturis, It's like having 2 leadoff men.

But how much of that is due to most of his AB coming previous to Chipper? Pitchers tend to come after you when the guy hitting behind you is Chipper Jones. Yunel got to see a lot of good first pitches batting second and cranked out a lot of nice line drive singles, and he did a good job of drawing walks in that two hole as well, even though he was aggressive. Batting lead off and not behind Chipper he's still going after too many first pitches and is getting a lot less to hit, causing him to ground out.

Batting in front of Chipper he managed to be aggressive and also draw walks, which is an odd but deadly combination, he hasn't been able to do that leading off though.

Gets on more with a walk than hits. Just like Kelly, people don't realize the value of on-base percentage vs. batting average.

Don't forget our very own Brian McCann! Did you see that triple he legged out earlier this season? Now that's some serious speed.

timmy
05-30-2008, 07:57 PM
If somebody would sit down with Josh Anderson and teach him to take a walk he'd be a heckuva a ballplayer he's 4th outfielder marginal until that happens. But if he could draw walks like Geb he'd be set because he's a much better base stealer.

Had some pretty good middle infielders at the time. Giles was an all-star then and Furcal/Renteria (can't remember which one) were pretty damn solid guys at short. Phillips at the time was just a ball of potential that had never reached the surface.
