For the third straight game after a loss, we have a "put yesterday behind you" gamethread. Let's answer with a win tonight, just as we did in the previous two.

These are the real lineups by the way.

So do we officially have Soriano back now?

McCarroll21
05-28-2008, 06:01 PM
He's shown on the roster at Braves.com.

Edit: Nevermind, he's actually not shown on the roster. I knew Diaz had been removed from the active roster so I thought Soriano had been added. He'll probably be activated before the game. Bobby said last night they were going to activate him when he was talking about Diaz's injury.

So this year, MOST of the wins and loses have not come one at a time. 90% (I think until this last series against Arizona) have happened like that. I don't see this turning out well...

I also will be missing this to go to my brother's b-day party

I hate being a DD though:(.

Time for Jo-Jo to bounce back tonight and shut everyone up. Hopefully the offense can start out like they did yesterday, but keep it going throughout the game this time.

McCarroll21

Is Kotsay going on DL?
Needs to. They talked about it yesterday but then Diaz got hurt. Not sure if that changes anything or not. Right now, we only have two outfielders available to us and killing our versatility on the bench by playing Infante in place of one of them that is out.

Chuck61686
05-28-2008, 07:11 PM
Even though the Braves may be very depleted of outfielders, it's a good thing that Infante, Norton and Gotay are multi-position players, so I'm not too worried about the bench situation just yet. Still though, if Kotsay needs to go on the DL, I'd hope Josh Anderson is called up!

Regarding the line-up:
- It's nice to see KJ in the #2 hole where he'll have more RBI opportunities.
- Yunel looks to be a great lead-off hitter, but it would be nice if he'd be as selective as KJ is.
- Good thing Francoeur is in the #6 hole now, I would never bat him in front of McCann.
- Tex needs to figure out a way to stop hitting into so many DPs. (Yes, I know Chipper is always on base in front of him and his speed isn't what it used to be.)

GrandMasterB
05-28-2008, 07:20 PM
For those who haven't seen it yet, Chipper's currently leading NL third basemen in All-Star voting, and is second in total votes in the NL behind Chase Utley.

How does batting second get him more RBI chances than batting 7th like he had been? Kelly needs to be batting 6th, not second or anywhere else.
Yunel is a good leadoff hitter? Yeah! That .250 AVG and .295 OBP is screaming scary good. The 10 Ks in less than 60 at-bats are awesome, too.
Good to see Francoeur batting sixth and behind McCann? Where else has he hit when McCann is in the lineup against a right hander? He's been hitting 6th -- behind McCann -- against righties for the entire season.

Do you pay any attention at all to the games?

If you voted for someone other than Utley or Uggla at 2B, it's a joke. If you voted for someone other than Berkman at 1B, it's a joke.

Up until about a week ago, Soto did deserve it over McCann. McCann still only has .009 OPS points on him. Hopefully McCann can overtake Soto now but it will be hard considering the team Soto plays for.

I'm fine with all of the leaders except the outfielders. Fukudome has not been the 2nd best outfielder this year. He's basically just been Gregor Blanco with 80 more at-bats. Nate McLouth at #11 is much more deserving.

GrandMasterB
05-28-2008, 08:09 PM
McCann's and Soto's stats are closer than one might think. At least Soto would be deserving of a spot, which can't always be said of the All-Star game starters.

That may be, but they're getting in whether I vote for them or not. So I'd like to see my guys up the list a bit, it may not be the "right" thing to do, but it's how I often end up doing it. Maybe I'm voting them for 2nd or 3rd place, so what?

Let's go Bravos.

Why are we worrying about what the Marlins did last night? And whether we're 1.5 or .5 games back. It's May 28th. Until we win a series on the road and get some breathing room from the .500 mark i'm not worried about the East. It's going to be a 3-4 team race all year. But a little too early to start scoreboard watching, imo.

For 7 innings, we were working on being one game closer to first and then had it ripped away. That's why it hurts to me.

Hmm...

You may have misinterpreted a few things I said:
- I was speaking of KJ having more RBI opportunities in the #2 hole vs. the leadoff spot, which is where he's hit most of the season.
- Where are you getting Esco's .250 avg? Last I checked he's batting above .300. If you're speking of his batting avg as a leadoff hitter, well, he's had a limited number of at-bats in that spot thus far - so I wouldn't draw conclusions from that stat just yet. Also, I said he "LOOKS to be a good leadoff hitter", meaning he shows some promise if proper adjustments are made - I didn't mean to automatically label him as a good leadoff hitter before he's proven himself.
- I never said Frenchy has regularly batted ahead of Mac.

And yes I pay attention to the games :D
I was just in Atlanta to see them sweep the Mets and take 2 outta 4 from the D-Backs (hence my absence from this forum the past 10 days, sorry you've all missed me.)

Great outing by Jo-Jo so far. Hopefully we can get come offense going here to back him up.

If he gets through this inning alright, do they pinch hit for him and try for a run, or keep him in for another inning?
If I were making the decision, I would leave him in one more considering his performance and pitch count.

Have to admit that I didn't expect such a low scoring game tonight. I realize Suppan has been good at home this season but wow.

The way this one is going, Brandon Jones flight to Milwaukee may have landed before a team scores.
