Go Braves! Hopefully that rain stays out of the Atlanta area from now on. I'll keep everyone updated on the weather situation every so often.
More importantly, I hope Jojo has that same good control he had in his last start. We need another outing like the one he had against the A's earlier this week. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed because we really need to get off to a good start in this series.

They've been using Hudson in the three hole a lot lately. Kind of dumb, but whatever. They're 10-14 against teams not in the last three spots in the NL, so go figure.

Not only is Escobar back, Infante didn't slide over to second against the lefty.
Tomorrow may be different. With Randy pitching and it being a "day" game after a night game, I wouldn't be surprised for the lefties to get a rest that day. Gotay at second, Infante in center and Corky behind the plate tomorrow.

Its raining all over metro Atlanta...the rain has slowed at the ballpark at the moment. A few fans have come out from under cover and a few players from both sides are playing catch in the outfield. Radar looks blah. I don't have a good feeling about this one tonight.

They'll get it in. We've already met our quota for Turner Field rain outs.
We may have a few stops here and there, but they'll play it. :please:

I'm a bit more optimistic about this game weather-wise. If you look at the animated radar image you'll see that those other storms in the area aren't headed for downtown Atlanta. We're fine. Once that little shower gets out of town we're free to play ball tonight. We might get one little shower at some point during the game but nothing that will require a delay.

I'm no weather man, that's for sure...All I know is its dark, damp, and there's rain all around.
Good news! The tarp is off, there is however a NASTY mud puddle near first base...almost like there was a hole in the tarp or something. Its ugly.
Jsh1284
05-23-2008, 07:09 PM
Ah that should drain before the game starts. They have a drainage system under the turf there that works wonders on puddles. When that standing water dries up they have something to put over the mud that'll dry it up fairly quickly. I'm sure it wont be a problem. We're getting this game in for sure now. I have no doubt.
I'm ready for another win! GO BRAVOS!

They have a fantastic drainage system for the grass. The clay is another story though. They're pouring two entire bags of diamond dry in that one spot...and they've got four guys working on it...it was pretty ugly. I've never seen a mud hole like that on the infield at Turner Field...that's RFK kind of stuff!

Byrnes has been terrible. Hudson is their veteran leader so they figure the 3 spot is good for him. Personally, I'd have Upton at the 3 and Hudson 2 with Drew lower in the lineup.

I'm with you. I never said Byrnes should be there. :) I do think it's f'n dumb to have Snyder hitting above Byrnes and Reynolds though. Batting Reynolds eighth is kind of like batting Kelly Johnson eighth ... oh ... wait.

By the way, they haven't rolled up the tarp yet....its just folded in right field. They are continuing to work in the infield...I'm thinking they didn't have the tarp on in time today...the infield is very damp all the way around and they're mixing diamond dry in throughout the whole infield. Normally they don't have to work in the diamond dry BEFORE a game if it was raining during the day because they had the tarp on, today however, the clay was very damp under the tarp. There's nothing else to talk about...that's what happens when there's no BP!

I actually am alright with Reynolds 8. Either him or Drew. Snyder has been real solid this year and has a real good isoOBP. Reynolds has so much power, but he does have the lowest OBP on the team. My lineup would be
Young
Hudson
Upton
Jackson
Byrnes
Snyder
Drew
Reynolds

Eh that cell I was talking about earlier that broke up re-formed to the northwest a bit and now threatens the downtown Atlanta area later on this evening by the looks of the course it's on at the moment. Let's hope it either A. Breaks up and dosen't affect the game or B. the Braves are winning and it's after the 5th inning and an offical game by the time it hits. =D .. well now that I see it more closely it wouldn't be but maybe a 30 minute delay if it did pass over the Ted. Not too bad. Thats the only rain we're lookin at tonight though.

At least the Marlins are losing. We needed to get out to a good start in this series though. Now it's fairly likely that we'll have to rely on Campillo to win one and even the series down a game in his third major league start. I guarintee it'll be a better start than this one by JoJo though which is a plus. I just want a split in this one so we can stay five over .500 and stay with the Marlins.

For everyone already giving up on this game, I point you to Sep. 5, 2007 (http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/ATL/ATL200709050.shtml), in which the Braves trailed, 5-0, after two innings, only to come back and win, 9-8.

That's just our luck right there. Jojo never fails to find a way to screw us out of a run does he? Needless to say I don't like him very much. We could've been right back in this game if he hits one to the other side and gets one in.

Eh he's had two allright starts and two five run outings. He's either average or just terrible depending on if he's actually throwing strikes or not. That's just in my experience with watching him though.

I agree that we've still got a shot but we need a couple of runs to get our heads back in the game and he's got to hold them RIGHT THERE. If both of those things actually happen we might be able to pull this one out the way we've been swingning the bat lately.

Wagner got out of 1st and 3rd with 1 out to keep it tied. In the 10th, Reyes led off with a double, then promptly got picked off second base. Wright strikes out to end their half and on to B10 now. Now Wright has a throwing error to start the bottom half. Is there really any doubt they are trying to lose?
