from the Mets board...
Cerrone sez Easley is attending his son's high school graduation, so the bench is Castro and Tatis tonight.
Cerrone is the guy that runs metsblog.com i think. Castro is the backup catcher so i can't see him being used in a pinch hit situation...so the bench is only Tatis? this can't be right, can it?

Yeah, Cerrone is legit. Let's see...
Alou is in New York. Church has a concussion. Easley's gone. That does, indeed leave just two.

Hey, don't forget about that power hitter they've got at second base. Speaking of second base, looks like we have the best number eight hitter in the majors.

Per Mets Beat writer David Lennon:
Raul Casanova is en route to Atlanta as the Mets wait on the status of Moises Alou, who returned to New York this morning to have his strained left calf examined.
Damion Easley was given permission to leave the team to attend the high school graduation of his son, Rocky, in Arizona.
Maybe Ryan Church will be ready to return tonight after suffering a mild concussion, but that sounds a little early to me, despite yesterday's optimism.

when david wright gets beaned he has to charge the moundAt least they're ready for it. If Wright charges the mound, I'd be fine with seeing Tatis play eight innings.
Personally, I don't think we'll go after them, but if we do, Wright is the guy to go after.

Beltran and especially Delgado hit Hudson well, he just has to work around those two and Wright a little bit and he'll be fine.

Heard this from a couple of evaluators (http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=olney_buster): Johan Santana's velocity is down 3-4 mph from a couple of years ago. He is short-arming the ball more than he has in the past -- and this is after some red flags appeared in the physical examination he underwent before signing with the Mets. Sources say his shoulder showed some wear and tear, which is not unusual for a pitcher of Santana's age. This is not to say Santana is not an effective pitcher now, but all of this information makes you wonder how effective he will remain during the course of his multiyear deal.I think I said at the time of the trade that the length of the contract would come back to bite them in the ass.

Chipper on the fans and getting hit...
Jones said that while he appreciated the sentiment of fans who booed lustily after he was hit by Scott Schoenweis' pitch in the seventh inning, Jones did not believe he was thrown at intentionally.
There were runners at first and second with two outs when Jones was hit in his back leg by a slider form Schoenweis, a left-hander. Mark Teixeira followed Jones with a bases-clearing three-run double.
"You're going to intentionally hit me with two guys on base, in a blowout, with Tex coming up?" Jones asked rhetorically. "The fans are passionate about the team, and the way I've been going they don't want to see me out for an extended period.
"It was a little bit of an overreaction, but I appreciate the passion."Holy crap! Fans in Atlanta and passion put in the same sentence without the words, "lack of" included in there.
Needless to say, Chipper doesn't feel it was intentional but you can kind of read through the lines and see he's pissed and will seek revenge. The difference in Chipper and the rest of the league is that Chipper will speak with that stick of lumber he's holding.

We have to look beyond Santana and just take the same approach we have in the first three games. If we can have Santana throwing something like 20 pitches in each of the first two innings, we'll be fine.
I feel really confident for some reason in Hudson. Maybe the fact he's coming off a horrible outing and his last start against the Mets was crap, too. I think he'll be out to silence the Mets once and for all and step on their throat by out pitching Santana.
