Jurrjens has established himself as one of the game's top rookies by pitching deep into games (averaging 6 1/3 innings per start) and showing remarkable poise for someone with just 14 career starts. He is 3-0 in his past four starts, sporting a 2.08 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 26 innings. The Braves are 4-3 in games started by Jurrjens this season.
While allowing one run and seven hits in six innings against the Padres on Tuesday, Jurrjens arguably had his least impressive outing in three weeks. In his four previous outings, he had limited opponents to a .124 batting average. The 22-year-old right-hander has been one of the game's top rookies. But now that there are more enhanced scouting reports of him, he'll have to show his ability to make quick adjustments.</td></tr><tr><td class="thead" align="center"><strong>Zach Duke, PIT</strong></td></tr><tr><td class="smallfont" bgcolor="#e3e3e3">After back-to-back quality starts, Duke seems to be rounding into form. He has thrown at least six innings in five of his seven starts this season, as the lefty is keeping his sinker down in the zone. Against the Braves on April 3, Duke allowed two runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings and got a no-decision. He has allowed at least eight hits in six of his seven starts this season.
Duke will take the mound after making back-to-back quality starts that appear to have a left-hander on some sort of early-season roll. He has now finished at least seven innings in half of his starts this season, and his sinker has been consistently down in the zone again, something that wasn't so much the case a year ago. Duke will get his second chance of the season against Atlanta on Sunday. He pitched 5 2/3 innings against the Braves in his first start of the season and allowed two earned runs on 10 hits.</td></tr></tbody></table><table class="tborder" border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="1" width="500"><tbody><tr><td class="tcat" colspan="4" align="center"><strong>AccuScore Game Forecast</strong></td></tr><tr><td class="smallfont" align="center" bgcolor="#e3e3e3"><script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript"><!-- var f0=new flashObj(); f0.flashFile="http://assets.espn.go.com/swf/mlb/accuscore_mlb.swf"; f0.flashVars="&XMLURL=http://espn.go.com/mlb/accuscore/280512223.xml"; f0.ID = "as_280512223"; f0.width = "480"; f0.height = "320"; f0.DenyIEdl = "TRUE"; f0.FlashVer = 7; f0.cabVersion = "7,0,0,0"; f0.altTxt = "Flash Player Required"; f0.render(true); // --></script><embed src="http://assets.espn.go.com/swf/mlb/accuscore_mlb.swf" swliveconnect="FALSE" quality="best" scale="exactfit" flashvars="&XMLURL=http://espn.go.com/mlb/accuscore/280512223.xml" wmode="opaque" id="as_280512223" name="flash3" menu="false" devicefont="false" salign="lt" allowscriptaccess="Always" allownetworking="All" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" height="320" width="480"></td></tr></tbody></table>

Omar Infante!
I don't mind it today as much as I did yesterday. We'll be facing a righty in game two, so I'd rather have Infante in against the lefty and Kelly start the second game versus the lefty.
Same for McCann sitting. He'll have to sit one, so you might as well let him start against the righty and catch Huddy. Looks like Blanco may get two starts today, one in center and one in left. I wouldn't mind seeing Norton in RF in game two either. Jeff sucks versus righties and on the road, so there's your combination. Give him a game off and let Norton get a start.

Lol, lets seep this double header. Having some new bats in their may be just what we need after our O has sputtered pretty good the past few games.

Not when one of those bats is Corky Miller. That's not a new bat in the lineup, just another hole.

And even with his limited at-bats, a 3/4 would still leave his average at .250. .083 hitter batting 7th always equals success. :rolleyes:

I think Bobby just enjoys yelling, "C'mon Corky!"
But backup catchers are what they are, off the top of my head I can only think of one backup catcher that can actually hit and that's Mike Redmond.

Good question...honestly, I think we should try him in the leadoff spot. We need someone to steal bases so that when Chipper gets his usual hit, someone can score.

I think Jair will start hitting his spots better, he did a nice job with that last guy cuz even though he missed his spots and was coming up and in on him, Mac and him did a good job going down and away. The missed pitches in on the hitter's hands set him up for that fastball down and away to get the K.

I think it'd be nice if we could shell Duke and put some mileage on their bullpen, with this double header it'd be nice. Conversely, I'm glad we have Huddy pitching game two and it'd be nice if Jair could log at least 7 innings.

A lot of people have a better claim at it than Jeff. To have a good arm, you have to have an accurate arm. Jeff does not. Any time he releases the ball, it could go into the stands or be right on the money.

While I agree with your argument. I'll respectfully disagree with the example. Ted's team's were terrible, Frank Howard was the only good player on those squads, and if anything his first season he went 86-76 with a team that was 63-98 the season before.
