i picked it up yesterday and played pretty much all afternoon since this is a slow week for remote broadcasts.
i love it so far. i know a lot of people are complaining about the handling of the cars but i like it, i think it's more realistic.
i like the new method for running from the cops. because it seems like everytime i'm about to get away one sees me and the chase continues - really, really fun.
overall i'm very pleased and i think GTAIV is every bit the 10/10 that most websites awarded it.

I've ordered it on ebay along with MLB 08, should get it anywhere between next week and... after that (hurry up USPS!) Fortunately I have GT5 Prologue, Madden 08 and Burnout Paradise to wait until then. Definitely looking awesome

The only complaint if any that I have is it can be to dark in some area's at night time...however It's better o that way considering it's got a more realistic feel to it...

i agree. yesterday when i did the first "mission" of taking Roman to his apartment i couldn't see anything because it was so dark.

The language in the game is much more graphic than previous games and to me it takes away from the gameplay. I have a one year old and have to be careful. That and the voices need to be louder when you talk on your cell phone. I cannot hardly hear them over the sound effects. Those are only my complaints. I love this game.

i'm trying to get as far in the single player before i do multiplayer. all i've heard is greatness about multiplayer so i have a bad feeling that single player might get ignored once i go online with it.

Mothers against GTAIV's drunk driving
MADD asks ESRB to rerate Rockstar's game Adults Only over inebriation simulation.
By Brendan Sinclair, GameSpot

Much like its unfortunate series of protagonists, the Grand Theft Auto series seems to be continually under fire. The latest parental interest group to put the game in its crosshairs is Mothers Against Drunk Driving, which commemorated Grand Theft Auto IV's release yesterday with its own official statement decrying the game.
Noting that drunk driving claims nearly 13,500 lives each year, MADD said that it is "extremely disappointed" that the game lets users get virtually drunk and then get behind the wheel of an equally virtual automobile.
"Drunk driving is not a game and it is not a joke," MADD said. "Drunk driving is a choice, a violent crime, and it is also 100 percent preventable."
MADD is asking the Entertainment Software Rating Board to bump Grand Theft Auto IV's rating up to AO for Adults Only from M for Mature. The ESRB's content descriptors for the game currently include "use of drugs and alcohol." The parental group also said that it is asking the game's "manufacturer" (presumably Take-Two Interactive) to consider stopping distribution out of a sense of social responsibility, or out of respect for those who've been hurt or killed by drunk drivers.

I hate how people make it out to be video games that play in the choices people make instead of the people themselves. I've played a lot of different games in my lifetime and I've never gone out and traded drugs, shot at anyone, robbed anyone, etc. I never even wanted to hop on the Oregon Trail.

i was driving around liberty city and saw a hooker. so i picked her up and while driving accidentally shot the gun and she got pissed. so i stopped to let her out and she carjacked me. so i killed her.
needless to say - i'm not going to do this in real life, i understand that this is just a game.

what a little prick.
that video brings up something that i hate...the fact that the kid did that and yet, like the grandmother pointed out, if he were to be punished via a whoopin' (very much like the ones i'm sure most of us received as children) she would be the one who got in major trouble.

..and the fact that the responsibility falls on the grandmother anyway.

What drives me nuts is that the parents just point the "bad things" and say "this game must be taken out, or our kids will become gangstas" Wait, can't they just control what their kids can and can't buy? It is their responsibility to say "don't buy GTA 4". It's just too easy to say nothing and then blame other persons.

As of Tuesday, May 7th 2008, it is not one of the biggest – it is the biggest video game release of all time. The Rockstar Games parent stated today that they have sold six million copies of its fourth installment of the much ballyhooed GTA franchise. First day sales were a staggering $310 million (3.6 million copies sold) and nearly doubled Halo 3’s previous best $170 million first day outing. Not to mention that GTA4’s first day sales were $10 million more than Halo 3’s entire debut week of sales.

They even had this on Paul Harvey, of all things, yesterday at lunch.

I picked it up the day it came out. I haven't played it as often than most because of my job. By time I get home everyday I'm tired. Last time I checked I was a little over 40% done with the game progress.
I wouldn't give it a 10 because no game is ever perfect.

I got the three funniest ways to kill people in a 2 minute spawn today.
I stole a Sentinel, but the owner didn't agree, ran after me, caught a part of the car and hung to it while I was driving really fast. I then started to lose control of the car and drove next to a tree at a good 100mph, the guy got literally blown away hundreds of yards away
I kept on driving at an insane speed, but the street came to an end right after a jump. The car started to fly like crazy and landed right before a wall. Problem : some guy was standing right between the wall and the car. Chaos ensued. The car rebounded like chewing gum and landed in the middle of the street in fire, I stood up (of course I flew right through the windshield when I crashed), watched the car explode, cars around catch fire, explode, etc. for 10 minutes, at least 50 cars exploded and all the people who came to see would get blown away, including me at some point :(
God this game is fun.
