This bugged me.

I was listening to ESPN 1450 on the radio today, and one of the commentators said something that really bugged me. He said that the Cardinals seem to have a good knowledge of who to dump. He was specifically referring to Matt Morris and how the Cards had dumped him, but then he listed a bunch of names, and included Edgar Renteria. He said that the Cards seem to know when people are washed up. Thing is, Renteria isn't "washed up" IMO.

Just wanted to vent. I hope that made some sense.

I guess if you call being tied for fifth in the AL in hitting "washed up", then yeah, he is. 85% of big leaguers probably wish they were as "washed up" as Edgar.

...Edgar is a DAMN fine player. I like the man, he may be the reason Esco hasn't slipped off so far this year, being his mentor and even working out with him in the off season. Edgar is a stand up guy, a good good player. By all means, he is no where near washed up.

The person who said that is probably one of those who only pay attention to the Yankees/Red Sox type teams and he remembers Renteria's '05 season, but forgets what he did in '06 & '07. I dislike the media people who haven't done research.

Just another reason you have to take everything you hear from an ESPN affiliate with a grain of salt. Regardless of what they're talking about, something's going to be wrong about it. They need to go the "PTI" route and institute a "stat boy" at the end of every program to make corrections on all of the miscues.
