So what about the 120 OPS+ he had last year, when Jeff's was 103.
What about Jeff's whopping 87 OPS+ in 2006? How's Ankiel starting his first full year as a hitter? Oh... that 131 OPS+ looks like shit, eh?
Sample size, rookie effect, etc.

Same.
All I see is that Ankiel has around as many at bats as Frenchy had in his rookie year, when he put up great numbers. Ankiel could also crash down or be great, but the risk his way too high to shop Frenchy.

Same.
All I see is that Ankiel has around as many at bats as Frenchy had in his rookie year, when he put up great numbers. Ankiel could also crash down or be great, but the risk his way too high to shop Frenchy.I get it. I may be a little too high on Ankiel. I'm not scared to admit that I'm a huge Ankiel fan. I've watched him come up as a pitcher and go down and come up again as a hitter just a few hours away. I've seen him pitch gems and hit moonshots. I see almost every one of his at-bats on TV.

Cody Ross put up a 173 OPS+ in seven more plate appearances than Ankiel, should we trade Frenchy for him, as well?

Pitchers don't exactly let them, especially for a relieve pitcher who barely ever hits it's not that easy.

Well... considering they use a DH half the time in the minor leagues as well as using the DH in the Mexican League, it's not like Campillo's had a lot of chances to do it. You also don't normally put your bullpen guys through batting practice before the games to make them put a bunt down.

i feel the same way about bunting as i do with free throws in basketball, at some point every player in the majors has had to learn how to bunt, it's a basic baseball skill. i do see how for a relief pitcher it's easy to lose some of those simple bat skills but still

Even some regulars players are horrid bunters, it's not that easy to make contact with a moving thing and make it land in a 90° angle.

The pitching depth every analyst claimed that we had has definitely helped a lot these past two games. 1 run between Chuck and Bennett is huge, they won't do this every time out, but they're solid pitchers and can do a decent to good job for as long as we need them to.

Good news! (http://www.ajc.com/services/content/sports/braves/stories/2008/04/19/bravesnot_0420.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=21)Struggling left fielder Matt Diaz was out of the lineup for the second consecutive game against a right-hander Saturday, but Braves manager Bobby Cox said it was just to rest him rather than the beginning of another platoon.
Rookie Gregor Blanco was back in the lineup after going 2-for-3 with a walk in Friday's 6-1 win. He went 2-for-4 on Saturday, striking out with two runners on base to end the second inning and striking out with one on to end the fourth before getting a leadoff single in the sixth.
Diaz, who was 11-for-43 with 14 strikeouts and no walks in his past 11 games, did extra work with hitting coach Terry Pendleton after batting practice.
"I've got to get back to using my hands, get to the ball quicker," Diaz said. "I did the same thing last year, when I hit .220 before our last April trip."I'm not so sure I really believe that, but at least it gives a little hope for Diaz. I do think he's needed a day off, but it always concerns you with Bobby.

Gregor has played well givin Diaz a spell. I dont think its a platoon but Gregor hasnt done bad, if he can play well like this I think that it can give Matt some rest here and there and keep Blanco warm off the bench for running and pinch hitting....
