Don't fret guys. The sky is still in the air today. It's true.

Sorry for being late this week. The other life called. The latest confidence poll came in at 84.22%. Last week, the Braves decided they wanted to have some fun down the stretch and allowed the Phillies to close the gap on them a little bit. Now that the lead is down to 3.5 games, I think it's time to expect the Braves to stretch that lead out a little bit again.

Braves sent Nate McLouth to Gwinnett after struggling so mightily for the entire season. Brent Clevlen was activated from the DL to take his place, but is not likely to be the permanent replacement. With the trade deadline days away and Gregor Blanco's 10 day window yet to expire, the Braves are likely just using Clevlen as a waiting out piece. Jason Heyward, Bobby Cox and Frank Wren all feel that Heyward would be a fit in CF if the need arises. ...

    Dear Mr. Wren,

We know you read our website so stop acting like you don't. We wanted Troy Glaus you got him. We wanted Eric Hinske you got him. We wanted Billy Wagner you got him. We know you love getting the most value for the money and taking some risks. So please go get the man in the picture on the right and solidify this club into a World Series contender. Cody Ross brings a lot of different things to this club such as much needed productivity against left handed pitching. He also has a very solid glove in center field but is not limited to one position.

It's been a while. Normally I don't make these on off days, but we didn't have one during the All-Star Break, so we're going to try to get back in full swing. The latest confidence poll came in at 83.48%. Last week, the Braves sent 5 players to the All-Star game with another representative staying at home. They stole the show at the game with Brian McCann being named the MVP and ensuring that the Braves will have homefield advantage during the World Series (or at least that's the rumor).

After the break, they split a home series with the Brewers and will now host the Padres for three before beginning a long road trip starting in Florida. ...

Chance after chance after chance. That's all Yunel Escobar has gotten over the past few years. Whether it be a lack of hustle, a boneheaded mistake, or just a general attitude problem, the Braves have looked past them and given him the benefit of the doubt. With his massive slump, currently stretching about 5 baseball, months it's time to seriously consider looking for other options. Rumors have it that other teams are interested in acquiring Escobar. If that's the case the Braves would be irresponsible at this point if they didn't seriously ponder some of those offers if the price is right.

By now, Omar Infante may be the most hated All-Star in All-Star Game history. His inclusion on the roster by Phillies manager Charlie Manuel more or less eliminated Joey Votto from making the roster when it was first revealed. Nevermind the fact that Votto will make the roster anyway, either as the man selected in the final vote or the player picked to replace and injured player like Chase Utley, Infante is still the person being looked at as the bad guy.

First things first: It's not Omar's fault. He didn't tell Manuel to put him on the team. He was as surprised as everyone else to learn he was selected. He was so surprised that when his phone rang as Frank Wren tried to call and notify him that he made the team, he actually thought he had been traded and was probably scared to answer the phone because of it. ...
