Interleague Play Preview: Impact on NL East
By: Josh McCarroll | Braves-Nation.com
As I’m sure everyone remembers, the Braves run through their 2007 Interleague schedule can only be described as one word: disastrous.
The Braves went 4-11 in Interleague Play last year, playing the World Series winning Red Sox six times and also played the Tigers, Twins and Indians, as well. While the Braves were struggling to go 4-11, the Mets and Phillies each went 8-7 in Interleague games, four games better than the Braves Interleague record.
When looking at the big picture, the Interleague schedules separated the three teams by four games, the Braves lost the division by five games and finished four games behind the Mets for second place in the division.
This year, the Braves Interleague schedule gets a little easier. The Braves... [Read More]

Braves-Nation.com MLB Poll - 5.12.08
The following poll was developed through a panel of 10 Braves-Nation.com members. The points were derived from the following very scientific system. Each first place team on each poll submitted received 30 points, the second place team received 29 points, etc. all the way down to the last place team on each poll receiving one point.
After all polls were submitted, the total points were tallied and the teams were ranked in descending order. In the event of a tie, we used the team's winning percentage as the tie-breaker.
The numbers you see below correspond with the amount of points each team received, not the order in which they were ranked.
In this week's poll, the Boston Red Sox took the top spot away from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The biggest movers from last week's poll were: Florida Marlins (+10), Houston Astros (+7), Pittsburgh Pirates (+7),... [Read More]

Wet Behind the Ears: Tommy Hanson
by: Jonathan C. Stone | Braves-Nation.com
Tommy Hanson, the draft-and-follow player the Braves drafted in the 22nd round in the 2005 Amateur Draft out of Riverside Community College in California. Also the guy who was kind enough to spend two hours chatting it up with the Nation answering a bevy of questions. To see that click here.
You can recognize Hanson if you go to the ballpark, a 6'6 blonde that can overpower hitters with a plus fastball that can hit the mid-90's, an excellent slurve, and a solid change-up that keeps the hitters off-balance and from sitting on the fastball. His fastball is his best pitch and when asked about it he said the following, "my fastball is my main pitch and i... [Read More]

What lies behind the curtain: Jeff Francoeur
By: Josh McCarroll | Braves-Nation.com
While a few get caught up in the "Golden Boy" image that Jeff Francoeur took on during his rookie season, there are a few out there that can see past this facade and see the real Jeff Francoeur. During this article, I'm going to take a look at what Jeff Francoeur is, not what fans want him to be.
What is Jeff Francoeur?
Jeff Francoeur is an average ball player. Nothing more, nothing less.
Why is an average ball player so bad? It's not when that's how he is interpreted, but right now, Jeff is being interpreted as a superstar, when he's obviously not.
For those who feel he's headed to stardom, did you know that Jeff Francoeur owns the same OPS+ for his career as our centerfielder? Both players have a career OPS+ of... [Read More]
